View Full Version : Killing long running processes

Am running Red Hat Linux 6.1 and 6.2 servers. Are there any scripts available that can monitor currently running programs. If they are running for x minutes, kill that process (and an email to admin would be nice).

We run many servers with hosting clients, and there are always a few scripts that get out of hand by clients :-( They will be running for 600+ mins.

Before I go writing my own, thought I would check first.

Thanks!

David

Here are a couple:

http://www.confine.com/load.html
http://www.pagesz.net/~scotty/perlscripts/hoggies.html

They may not do exactly what you need, but they might be a good start.

There are a lot of them on freshmeat.net. Try searching using keyword 'kill'.

Man, it's a small world. The owner of Confine (author of that script) lives right down the road from me. :D
