Tomer 01-10-2005, 10:46 AM For those who are the managers of their web hosting company, I was curious how much profit you have at the end of the month [or year], please also specify how much clients you have too. Thanks NetHosted-Andrew 01-10-2005, 10:53 AM You're kidding right? Andrew LordBob 01-10-2005, 11:00 AM I earn $2,683,892 per year and I have 39,400 clients. beam04 01-10-2005, 11:13 AM Enough.... bitfuzzy 01-10-2005, 12:19 PM Tomer: If you're looking to see if you can retire in 5 years (get rich quick), forget about it. I dont know the exact stats, but I believe the ratio of hosts to clients is like 20:1 (for every 1 customer there are 20 hosts) Basicly everybody and their sisters, mothers, cousins, brothers, girlfriends, uncle is providing some sort of hosting Omnisage 01-10-2005, 03:08 PM Tell you what Tomer, you tell us how much you earned last year and maybe then people will start sharing their financial status with you. axe9 01-10-2005, 03:19 PM Though, I think he's asking to see if webhosts are kinda 'staving artists' in a way. Though, I would suggest your try out for yourself :) Omnisage 01-10-2005, 03:43 PM axe9, if he is, there are man threads almost daily on the topic and the answer is always it depends. nickn 01-10-2005, 04:05 PM Originally posted by axe9 Though, I think he's asking to see if webhosts are kinda 'staving artists' in a way. Though, I would suggest your try out for yourself :) In every industry there are "starving artists", I could have sworn we just had this discussion elsewhere...someone said a juggler working on the santa monica peer might be starving while a juggle working for cirque de solei (spelling?) in vegas will be living quite nicely. This applies to the hosting market too.... Hosted.cc 01-10-2005, 04:08 PM If you deem a question as inappropriate, don't slam him. Just don't respond. Or tell him it is confidential and let that be the end of it. Just my 2 cents. will7 01-10-2005, 04:11 PM I highly doubt that many people will tell you their exact profits and losses each month or year. It is confidential information and giving it out is not really the "done thing" so to speak. Azavia 01-10-2005, 04:28 PM Just to give you a clearer answer on this: It depends on your target market, and business plan. When you calculate your prices, your monthly expenses play a rule in deciding them. Then, you decide how much profit you'd ideally like to make for other purposes, including advertising, and accordingly calculate your prices. Icene 01-10-2005, 04:43 PM lets just say - spare niyogi 01-10-2005, 09:47 PM If you're comfortable with the idea of "slow and steady wins the race", get into hosting. :-) But seriously, if you have a client base and love them, they'll love you back. But don't let that love spread too thin, your customers will get jealous and stab you for it! :-P Roj Anky 01-10-2005, 11:13 PM If I ever turn a profit, I'll give myself a small amount of money every month. I might have $100 or something deposited into my bank account. jt2377 01-11-2005, 12:22 AM Originally posted by AgaBoogaBoo If I ever turn a profit, I'll give myself a small amount of money every month. Oh, it is? ONE BILLION DOLLARS. icecreams 01-11-2005, 02:15 AM I just love these types of questions, it's silmilar to when family or friends ask how much I make my answer is "Why do you want to pay my bills?" lol:) brianoz 01-11-2005, 05:32 AM I think the real answer is, it's possible to make good money web hosting. The real question is, can you continue to provide your customers real value for money over the long haul? If you can't, then inevitably your business will suffer as time goes on. Make sure your margins are enough so your business stays stable. Aussie Bob 01-11-2005, 05:55 AM Originally posted by bitfuzzy . . . If you're looking to see if you can retire in 5 years (get rich quick), forget about it. Sure you could retire in 5 years in this business. If you're not financially stable after 5 years in the biz, you're doing it wrong. Hosting is a get rich slowly business. :smokin: boonchuan 01-11-2005, 09:42 AM I believe I can retire from web hosting, but I would need to look for another job: ( Growing rich too slowly to be able to shake leg yet.
