We have an office in Cleveland but our servers our in a data center in Dallas.

How much do you tell your visitors about your company? Do you tell them what data center your server(s) are in? or just tell them where your operations are based?

Giving an address (I believe) is very essential for establishing trust with a client. Phone number is even better.
Tell as much about yourself as possible without making yourself look boastful :)

it's really your choice but IMO, it would be more beneficial to tell them whatever they ask as long as it's not business sensitive material.

I provide my clients with any information they ask that isn't inappropriate. I don't see any problem in divulging our address, base of operations and the locations of our datacenters. In fact, I think the fact that my clients have this information gives them a certain piece of mind.

We do! Why act bigger than you really are? Being small and honest can actually get you pretty far. (Hey that rhymes!)

Thanks for your input. I can only agree.

Would you go as far as telling them who your provider is (servermatrix.com, etc.)?

Thanks in advance.

Honestly, i agree with what pretty much everyone else has said in this thread. I also dont see any problems with telling them what the actual provider you use maybe if they are a direct competitor of yours then i would think a little more about not disclosing that you who you use but other then that i dont see any problem with telling people the location and contact information for your business operations for both your business operaitons and your data center.

Thanks

I just tell them where the DC is located. If someone asked which DC that is I wouldn't mind telling them.

No, i will not tell them who my provider is. i'll tell them where server are located but that's it.

i'll tell them where datacenter is but that's it. they don't need to know the name of my provider. that's what whitebox label is all about.

The way I see it, your core competency should be in delivering quality service to your customers - not trying to act large boasting a huge datacenter etc. etc.

Plus, it looks REALLY stupid if your customer outsmarts you and figures it out. :-P

Just tell them everything nothing to hide, which datacentres you put the servers, where are the locations, doesnt matter, if they are smart they can find the info also. Giving everything helps to achieve more transparency when dealing with clients.
