View Full Version : ECUI.com Background Check?
rupes001 12-05-2000, 01:08 AM Hi all,
First of all, this is a great message board! I've already learned a great deal of information by reading previous threads. Also, since this will be my first dedicated server I want to make sure I do a lot of research before signing up with a provider. Anyways, on to my question...
I need a Windows 2000 Dedicated Server to host one site. Bandwidth is not that important to me as I won't need more then 10 gb/month in the foreseeable future. I mainly need our own server so that I can use custom applications.
Lately, I have been leaning towards ECUI.com's Standard NT Package for $209/month. It includes a PIII 733, 128MB ram, 9.1GB HD, and 100 GB/month in bandwidth (which is more than I need).
Has anyone had any experience with them?
Is there another dedicated hosting provider which any of you feel is better, and meets my needs?
Thanks!
rupes001 12-13-2000, 04:27 PM Wow! Thanks for all of your input people.
I'm guessing no one has had much experience with this company. But, after talking with them I decided to get a dedicated server with them. Their sales dept. is quick at answering e-mails, I hope it's the same for tech.
Anyways, I'll post an update in a months time to let you know how their service is.
jonese 12-13-2000, 04:45 PM sales is always quick... the tech's are the slow ones.. :)

You guessed right :) - Please post the good/bad/ugly so that there *are* some comments!
rupes001 12-14-2000, 10:31 AM Will do.
Hopefully, there's only good to report :)
vagsoft 01-09-2001, 01:12 AM Hi all,
I'm an ECUI customer since Jan 01 2001 (Standard Dedicated Plan). It is not a long time but for now I'm very impressed by their support (questions usually answered withing 10-20 min). The server is online 24/7, their connection is *fast*.
dektong 01-09-2001, 03:13 AM Nice to hear that, vagsoft!
I have recommended some people to their site in the past although I am not their customer. But now they have a real customer here! I was about to colocate my server with them but then decided to rent a full rack and their price is not really competitive enough.....
BTW: do you know their backbone connectivity? it says on their homepage that they have T3. But over the phone they also mentioned about OC3. This might explain the fast connection you are having right now...
Anyhow, you will definitely enjoy the cheap bandwith and free IPs from them ! :)
cheers,
energy 01-09-2001, 07:51 PM This worries me a little, actually a lot.
Interland.com, the real deal

"We are located in a Class A Telco building, and our neighbors in the building are Digex, MCI WorldCom, MFS, Sprint, and WinStar GoodNet. We have fiber optic connections between our floor and theirs. One block away is Cable & Wireless, Qwest, and UUNET. Our building has a redundant OC-48 cable into a SONET ring..."
ECUI, copied?

Actually the entire page is copied.
Interland is much more expensive, so it's not the same company.
When a company lies about their connection it's bad news.
What do you think?
Chicken 01-09-2001, 11:01 PM Maybe just a coincidence??? (*hee hee*)
I believe if you were to check on many Alabanza hosts (like us) you would find that their NOC descriptions bear an uncanny resemblance to each other.
This of course does not mean that they are telling lies, just that they all have the same connection.
I'm sure that many companies who offer colo or dedicated services have their NOC info used by their customers.
Don't be so quick to trash a company until it's obvious they are scheisters (or is it schiesters?) EETTLLUXX?
energy 02-02-2001, 09:09 PM vagsoft, how is ECUI so far?
