kmb999 02-16-2002, 02:36 PM I think it's very possible because they are only offering 250MB of transfer per month in the plan. With such little transfer, the 1GB of disk space would be almost useless anyway.
I wouldn't trust them though. They claim that the retail value of 1GB disk/ 250MB trans. is over $25/mo., which is an obvious lie considering the current state of the web hosting industry.
SMERSH 02-16-2002, 05:42 PM With 250 MB of transfer, it would take you four months just to upload your 1GB site! I wonder what their bandwidth overage is... that's probably where they make their money.
ToastyX 02-16-2002, 07:11 PM They appear to be Donhost resellers. That explains the low bandwidth.
davidb 02-17-2002, 01:05 AM The worst part is that there is almost always buyers
allmark 02-17-2002, 01:09 AM Well they have a site, alot of the Ebay ads don't.

:stickout
code_renegade 02-17-2002, 11:18 AM Well, they got lucky - 9 people are actually interested in this measly 250Mb of transfer... ;)

And I bet that none of them actually understand what transfer is or why they would need it.
Sain Cai 02-17-2002, 03:08 PM This one is even better: HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2003403906)
unlimited webspace:rolleyes:
50 gb transfer a month:eek:
$10/yr:confused:
phpjames 02-17-2002, 03:41 PM Funny how the title of that item says "No Gimmick" --- like its legit!
Ebay should do something about these phoney items.
ToastyX 02-17-2002, 07:17 PM Yet another Donhost reseller. These aren't scams. These are newbies trying to make quick cash. They don't know any better. I feel sorry for both the seller and the buyers. They don't know what they're in for.
Sain Cai 02-17-2002, 07:24 PM How can somone possibly allow 50gb transfer for only $10 a year?
Sain Cai - They can, because they are buying "Unlimited" bandwidth (notice the quotes, dripping with sarcasm) :D
Actually, Donhost's website is currently crashing my browser every time I try to access it - I think it's been reading WHT, too :)
2Grumpy 02-17-2002, 11:24 PM I kinda look at web hosting much like buying a computer. Most consumers have to buy that first Packard Bell (or other cheap all in one unupgradeable model) and get burned when it's time to upgrade (or they become one of the 28% who had to have their Packard Bells serviced within the first 3 months of owning it) and only after being burned will the average consumer be bothered into educating themselves.
When I used to work at a PC shop where we built good quality PC's and also did networking, I had a motto "everyone has to learn the hard way"
I look at those donhost resellers as the Packard Bells and once most consumers get burned, they'll learn hopefully.

Great Analogy Dixiesys..
laterz..
StarGate 02-18-2002, 09:38 AM 250 Mega Byte per month transfer HAAHHAA
I can do THAT with my ISDN lol
Go go Don-Johnson-Host-Resellers roflmao!!!!
Well, not too bad at 1GB storage and 250MB transfer.
If they keep the promises, it takes 4 months just to upload files, so what? You have entire 1GB mobile HD. Great for saving important stuff online but don't need to download a lot.
But again, I wouldn't trusted those scammers anyway.
