If I quote data transfer to page views as being....
1000 MB Data Trans per month. (Approx 100,000 Page Views)
2000 MB Data Trans per month (Approx 200,000 Page Views)
5000 MB Data Trans per month (Approx 500,000 Page Views)
10000 MB Data Trans per month (Approx 1 Million Page Views)
Will I be in the right area. ie..this is not stupid is it...or is there a better formular that can be applied.
Simon
Are we talking blank pages here, or pages with 60 images?
Big difference ;)

Seems a little low to me. That's just 10K a page if I do my math correct?
And that should, as lats is saying, include all images on the page as well.

We are saying....APPROXIMATE...so...on average then...what is the size of an average page? Im sure established hosts know the answer.

*Most* pages are normally 10k - 20k in size (providing they haven't been designed in NOF), but even so, that error margin means that bw usage could be double...

You must take into account what you will be hosting. For example, webpages will take the least. If you have a lot of graphics, that could be much more. If you hosted files, that would result in a lot of bandwidth used.
You should also take into account mod_gzip ;)

Usually I say the same as you but my friend have a site that has 700.000 hits/month and uses 13 gb/month.

So...In conclusion...If I quoted these figures on my site....bearing in mind they are approximate and not representative of all types of sites...ie..if I had 1 million sites hosted..on average the page size would be 10k...then I am not being outrageous..or am I. Would you quote these figures or would you say something else?
Simon
You could quite easily quote those figures, but to retain any sort of credibility you should mention the figures are based on an average 10k page size.

Thanks for the advice. What would you expect to find on a web page 10k in size...ie..is it just text...or would you have small graphics....does anybody have any examples of 10k web pages?
Simon
Just for fun, I tested the AcuNett site using this:
http://atlas-lvl2-rob-emulator.web.cern.ch/WebOffice-Old/Tools/pagesize.html
That's about 10k.
