I just left a host that had a monthly contract i was hosted buy them for 2 and a half months but they charged me for 3

Shouldn't i get a refund for the time i wasn't hosted? If i get charged for 3 months hosting i should get hosting for 90 days right im not sure because of the 30 day contract.

You'd have to read their terms of service..if you left early I doubt you're entitled to any refund. If they booted you early without provocation you are entitled (most likely).

It all depends on their terms of service. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most host charge in full month (30 days) increments. We charge in full months but we also don't close the account before the month is out. We also provide an extra 30 days free to transition to a new host if neccesary. Of course if the account is closed for abuse then they are SOL.

I signed up at the end of Sept they billed me for a month then they billed me at the end of Oct and Nov....i gave my 30 day notice at the end of Oct wich would had been my 30 day notice like i needed to give.

In Sept i was hosted buy then for 1 week maybe 2
I was hosted buy them for the hole month of Oct and for the hole month of Nov but i wasn't hosted buy them for the first 3 or 2 weeks in Sept.

Sounds to me like they owe you 2 more weeks of hosting but I seriously doubt they give partial month cash refunds - most hosts don't

I don't think they over charged you. Generally you pay up until the end of the month, but you can leave sooner if you desire.

You can always *ask* for a refund of the unused portion of your payment term. They might not give it to you, nor do I think they *have* to, but it never hurts to ask :)

From the sounds of it, and having just switched hosts on one of my web projects mid-month, I'd say you're pretty much out of luck, friend. It's a shame they don't prorate the stuff, but it is their prerogative.

If the contract stipulated that they'll refund you if you bail out half way into the month then you should. If not, then probably say cio to your green backs
