I need to purchase a server, my requirements are to host about three hundred clients. I need it to be fast, 1 GIG RAM, and RAID(2) 160uw SCSI 18.1. Who should i purchase from? I so far like compaq, but what does everybody recommend? I'm trying to spend no more than $10,500

I hear HP makes good servers. http://www.micronpc.com has them under their Mid-size biz servers.

I'll second the HP recommendation.

The Acer Altos server is also good if you're looking at a real enterprise-scale server. Very efficient and powerful.

You may want to check out http://compunite.net. My company buys about half our servers from them. Very good company.

Check out http://www.rack-mount.com They specialize in
building rack servers to your specifications. They seem to
do a really good job.

Let them know I mentioned you to them, I work with them fairly frequently.

I've heard nothing but good reports about Dell and of course with Dell you can configure you spec online and order it.

we recommend to clients that if they want to but then go Dell. Dell is basically using the ISP 1100 and ISP 2150 model for their rack mounts and they are solid machines.
