If I own software or hardware of a product, can I use their logo or pictures of the product on my site without braking copyright law?

Although you purchased their product, they still own and control the use of their logo. Technically, you need to obtain permission to display their logo on your site or elsewhere. -Bob iBusinessLawyer 02-15-2002, 11:17 PM Maybe. If it's clear that the use of the logos is merely to indicate that the host uses/supports the products associated with the logos, it is probably both copyright and trademark fair use. Adding language along the lines of "This site powered by. . ." before the logos would help in this regard. But you can't use someone else's photographs, not can you use logos (unless you get permission, of course). We have to contact them directly and get permission in writting first. multipleimage 02-16-2002, 12:07 AM Most companies require you to contact them first to get permission to use there logo's. However some companies give you permission to use logo's, etc in your license agreement. |
