View Full Version : billing (cybercash)
echoweb 12-04-2000, 09:24 PM Hello,
I need a billing solution for my next project and I was thinking of using CyberCash but I'm not 100% sure how it works. Also, does it really require a $495 fee for setup?
Thanks,
Boris
Jaiem 12-05-2000, 10:52 AM I looked into Cybercash for my other site. It's very complicated to setup. It's not just a CC processor gateway. There's tons of documents about how the process and setup works over at thier site. Take a look at them. I tried calling Cybercash and no one other there was able to give me a straight answer. Maybe that's why thier stock has tanked lately....
echoweb 12-05-2000, 04:58 PM What about authorize.net then? Is it a good alternative?
Boris
Jaiem 12-05-2000, 05:45 PM I don't have any first hand experience with them but I've heard both praise and critical comments.
Depends what your project is. Do you need only CC transaction approval? Or do you need regularly scheduled billing charges?
echoweb 12-05-2000, 05:46 PM Well, I need something to process my clients' CC for their web hosting (so it should inlude rebilling). I already have a 'Net Merchant Account... what else do I need?
AlaskanWolf 12-06-2000, 04:59 PM Our Automated billing program is setup with Cybercash and they work great so far.

Jaiem 12-06-2000, 11:18 PM There are several automated batch/volume CC charge programs that run on a PC. You have to configure it to work with your CC processor. There may or may not be a fee to use the software with your processor. Also, while your processor might have such software you can often get it cheaper shopping around.
Briguy 12-07-2000, 03:54 AM Jaiem,
Hello there! Do you have any examples of the software you mentioned? I'm in the market as well for a simple program to process my batch charges easily every month. (I use Authorize.net for my gateway.)
Thanks!
Briguy
Jaiem 12-07-2000, 12:48 PM I don't use the software but a friend does. I'll ask him and get back to you.
Jaiem 12-07-2000, 02:46 PM OK, he's using PC Charge from merchandwarehouse.com. He also suggested looking at Charge.com
Good luck!
Briguy 12-08-2000, 12:56 AM Jaiem,
Thanks for taking the time to get the name of the program--I really appreciate it!
Take care,
Briguy
marksy 12-09-2000, 02:46 PM Cybercash is incredibly easy to use through PHP, goto zend.com and pick up cyberclass - it makes it a 5 min set-up process.

Unfortunately, Perl is a different story. :(

mybiz 12-27-2000, 09:48 PM I use cybercash and its really easy to setup.
Jaiem 12-27-2000, 10:50 PM I'm no very comfortable with the outlook for CyberCash. Their stock has dropped into the low single digits and I have read anything positive about them as a company from investment sources.
I suppose someone might buy them up but things don't look bright at the moment.
Skeeter 12-28-2000, 03:29 AM You may want to check with your merchant provider to see if they partner with Cybercash. My bank does and it cost $80 set up fee instead of the $500 setup fee. They also do most of the work, so it's fairly easy. All you need is a 'gateway' from your site to Cybercash. I believe there are some free open source scripts that you can plug in. I've never used them myself, but I think I saw them when searching through http://www.hotscripts.com.
robkerry 12-28-2000, 08:38 AM I think that WorldPay easily beats the rest. You can recieve and charge in 5 different currencies, the setup is a sinch and automated monthly/annual billing is done in a couple of clicks.
Check them out at http://www.worldpay.com
(it is the only proccessor approved by the banks)

KDAWebServices 12-29-2000, 08:51 PM We use CyberCash (Through another UK bank) at the moment, but we will be switching to world pay when our contract runs out as it will cost us less to process charges as we can use it with our current bank.

All card proccessors are accepted by banks although WorldPay is the only one that banks like to recommend (short of their own services).
This is because the security is much higher than other services and the customers are protected as well as the merchants.
TechnaHost 01-18-2001, 12:58 AM We have been extremely satisfied with Cybercash. It does take a little knowhow to set it up, but once you are up and running it's a great solution to you problem. Everytime I've called Cybercash I've had all my questions answered and have had great support.
