(yes, just one :) ) it was easy to set up, and is working. the option to store email temporarily when your own mail server is down, is something I'd like to try out. Lynx 01-08-2005, 01:56 PM Hey, this is tangentially related to your question. I'm trying to figure out how ultradns works into locating my site -- I have a domain registered at Godaddy. I assigned both the name servers and domain host there. When I do a www.dnsstuff.com lookup, Searching A record at j.root-servers.net, I got a referral to TLD1.ULTRADNS.NET. Getting NS record list at h.root-servers.net... Done! Looking up at the 2 info. parent servers: Server ------------------------------- Response ------------- Time tld1.ultradns.net [204.74.112.1] ns1.mysite.com. ns2.mysite.com. 100ms tld2.ultradns.net [204.74.113.1] ns1.mysite.com. ns2.mysite.com. 101ms I'm having problems with some people being unable to find my site 2 months after I've moved using mysite.com which points to mysite.info. And problems finding mysite.info as well. None of the Godaddy info includes ultradns in it. The domain host is properly assigned the ip number of my vps. dmaven 01-08-2005, 04:56 PM I have used zoneedit in the past with pretty good results. They were pretty reliable tiggee 01-08-2005, 06:46 PM Originally posted by Lynx I'm having problems with some people being unable to find my site 2 months after I've moved using mysite.com which points to mysite.info. Is this the "info" or "com"? I'm guessing it is the "info". Lynx 01-08-2005, 07:53 PM The dns servers are registered to ns1 and ns2 mysite.com (not .info) The tld1.ultradns.net [204.74.112.1] shows up when you do a .com search. The mysite.info search yeilds the correct domain host: ns1 and ns2.mysite.com ------------------------------- I'm wondering if I'm having an occasional intermittent (but annoying) problem with my own nameservers, if someone hosted on my machine could use a different dns service if they didn't like how mine was working. ajaspers 01-08-2005, 08:05 PM UltraDNS handles the authoritative nameservers for the .org and .info TLDs. |
