i'm thinking about starting my own reseller business. solidinternet seems very good. also i was once a customer of myacen (parent company of solidinternet), and was very pleased with it.

but before signing up with solidinternet, i wanted to ask a few questions here:

- they're cheap, because they only offer forum support. since i'm new to reselling business, will i have a lot of problems that i can not solve on my own?

- they don't allow multiple domains. is it a problem? what if my customers want to have it?

- are there any other cheap companies like solidinternet? but they must be trustworthy and have a good reputation.

thank you.

1. I believe forum support is alright but you need more then that. I would look for a host that has live chat, email, and a support desk. I also believe that if host wishes to cut back on support by offering just forum support they could offer a faq's section or online tutorials.

2. I'm pretty sure you should be able to offer it to your clients threw WHM.

3. Of course their are other cheap companies out their. However, cheap isnt always the best solution.

I hope this helps you out :D

I wouldn't use them. Check out their forums, it is full of posts by SI users asking for help.

Besides, if your server is down, you don't even have a direct way to contact the admin.

Actually we provide AIM support and the same admins working on the myacen server work on the solidinternet service.

Some people heh

i'm quoting Robert's message at myacen forums:

Myacen VS Solidinternet

You have all been wondering why solidinternet our budget brand is much more different pricing wise than our business solution Myacen. The differences are outlined below to clear up any confusion for potential, existing or previous customers.

Solidinternet

...
3 - Forum only support (non priority)

Yes, basically if you want a no frills service that is cheap and reliable and you don't need constant support then solidinternet would be the better option. Obviously with less support personel working on that division we can pass on savings usually reserved for our support staff, billing staff etc.

But if I have a particular issue that only I am facing with the server, I don't have anyone to speak to.

Yes you do, AIM support is 24/7 (trial only at this stage). Server issues we monitor our servers every 5 minutes at alertra, each tech & system admin has a cell phone, email address and in some cases a phone number hooked up so we are alerted when their are any issues. I always follow up any issues with servers, staff etc personally as that's what I believe my job entails. Keep the customers happy then the staff are happy and I'm happy.

Theirs number of posts in our forums, we have 2200+ members and plenty are willing to help each other that's what is great about having a forum that's active. We have a terrific message board with terrific users who help and assist each other and are great for a general yarn.

It's what myacen has built it's reputation on support and it's not something I wish for us to fault on. Sure we have had a number of issues and the feedback be it negative or positive goes a long way in how we structure the business in the future. It's what the clients want it's what the clients built. Solidinternet is a service that was requested by our myacen clients and all feedback is reviewed by us and then changes acted upon.

We are not one of those hosts that sits on their hands and maybe you have concerns on the service however for a budget service we can't offer everything it's simply not economical. Maybe you wont get direct answers by email from system administrators but your issues will be looked into if you bring them up with us.

We could offer 24/7 ticketing support but then the service would not be viable for us and pricing would need to rise. As I said it's a no frill service and customers or should I say potential customers have the option between the two brands.

Gazanfer,

I was actually a client of myacen which is the more expensive version of SI for a while. My experience was superb. Very little downtime/problems. And if there were any problems the forums are usually the place I would go to. And believe me, as what Robert has said, the people in there are very helpful and are always willing to lend a helping hand. Of course if a server fails, there is nothing much the people in the forum can do but during my time there I think there was only one incident where I needed direct access to tech support.
As long as you do not need someone to hold your hand 24/7, SI would be worth trying.

i know that myacen and si is superb. they're not motivated with the aim of revenue, but only their business. they're trustworthy, and deserve the reputation they have. i suggest everyone to host their sites at myacen or si.

but as i said before, reseller business is something i'm new to, and i will need some help. that's why i hesitated.

Maybe you should start off at myacen then move to SI once you are comfortable. Or else look for other cheaper reseller host that does provide true support ie not only forum.
