I would like to set up few servers with multiple services. Let say for example that I have 5 servers; I would like to have one dns, 1 email+dns, one webserver (apache), one database (mysql), one application (mix of perl and php).

My question is when you compile these together, it has it in instructions to do -with-mysql and ssl and lots of other options, and if I use apachetoolbox, well it does it all for me. So do I do this in every machine and just turn on what ever I want, like every machine I do the same procedure and in one, I turn on apache, in next I turn on mysql.

Seems to me to be repeating the same thing too much, So I am hoping there is a better way, and also how does this effect a control panel, I was hoping to use webcp from can-host. How does that fit in the whole picture?

My goal is that the user would have access to the web server and webserver would calls the application server and application server talks to the database server.

I appreciate all comments.

Thanx in advance.

Mike

You are not repeating a lot. Each machine is serving a different purpose, and thus requires a different activation/setup procedure.

For that kind of managability, you want to go with either H-sphere or ensim serverXchange. WebCP does have provision for multi-server management, but the functionalities aren't there. (Consider that its only in beta 0.5)
