The February 4th issue of NetworkWorld had a nice article on the growth and recent surge of dot-info domains.
There has been a noticable rise in registrations recently, however I'm not sure that anyone is actually using them in a website.
Those of you who are webhosts, please answer this poll. Are .info domains actually becoming websites in your experience, or are people simply buying them to protect their name branding?

We host some. As far as I can tell I would say 60% to protect the name of the customer, 40% because they didn't get a decent .com.

We're selling/hosting them. I don't know of one yet that has been to protective another domain.

They are great for informational sites and information is a large part of the interest in the internet. So, we use them for what they are designed.

i registered a handful, mainly ones that contained highly searched keywords where the .com .net and .org were all taken.
Search engines are a good source of traffic, so I think there is a place for .info names which contain good searchwords in them.
Although you would be driving a lot of free traffic to the owner of the .com
Also .info implies that you are a new starter without much of a history, but all of that will change in time.

McNugget is good, heh. Grandparents coming in from East to see him. The domain is piro.info (yikes! I just typed piro.com and had to backspace, I already don't like it), and the reason is a bit stupid, but...

I usually register names and don't use them. I should really just post an ad and get rid of them all, heh. But I love all of them!!! :bawling:

Yup, brand new... I haven't set it up on the server yet.
