I had SNMP service enabled, and after a few days noticed (on Win2K Adv Svr) that the process was consuming about 250 megs of memory. Is this normal? I'm not sure I even need SNMP, and I read that it's a security hole as well.
Any insight?
Thanks!

Not sure why it was eating all those resources, are you using it for anything at all? What are you using the server for, web hosting?
My suggestion is remove it off your system as quick as possible and if you have a firewall, make sure you block SNMP UDP/TCP ports (in case there is another program on your system that has SNMP installed).
This is one good reason that when you do a W2K install, you need to make sure you only install the absolute necessary services (not even screen savers, games, etc) and then make sure you shut down all unnecessary services (TCP/IP over NETBIOS, Print Spooler, etc.)
I think this recent SNMP vulnerability could be a nasty one, only time will tell.

Thanks! I have it disabled, as of yesterday, I figure if I'm not using it, just disable it, and I did read about the security, so I'm scared to touch it!
Thanks again RackMy! :)
