It doesn't say cPanel included so I doubt it :(

onekit 01-06-2005, 12:10 AM any pentium 4 2.4 or 2.8 server with the same great deal ?
Once again you bring us a great deal!
I've seen the p2800 on special a few times now, do you have any idea if there is a plan to offer a special on one of your other p2800x series machines, mainly one with scsi drives? I need a new box to work as a db box and be linked to my current p2800s and was told the standard p2800 can not do that. It looks like you don't have any deals on other servers now but given that the p2800 keeps coming up I'm wondering if it's worth waiting a little longer or not?
Jefff 01-06-2005, 10:06 AM When I ordered my server the confirmation screen said it would be ready within 24 hours. That was over 24 hours ago, and it's not ready yet.
I appreciate there might sometimes be delays, but I'd expect to at least get an email to tell me about any problems.
I hope this is not an indication of the level of service I can expect to receive from The Planet.

If you are interested in the status of your order you are welcome to drop the TC Sales dept. an email totalcontrol@theplanet.com
If this is a Server Matrix order drop the email to: sales@servermatrix.com
When you email us supply a name/company name you ordered with. We receive hundreds of orders a day so it is difficult to assist you with a forum handle, sorry.
Reasons for delays can range from:
Overseas order, need confirmation info faxed to us.
Custom setup instructions provided by customer
Unable to verify order with customer
Order was cancelled becasue of fraud.
The list can go on and on.
Simply drop us an email and ask for an update. We will be happy to assist you.
Jefff 01-06-2005, 10:30 AM The point I'm making is that I shouldn't have to ask where my server is, if the company is interested in providing good customer service they should be proactive, and tell the customer if there's going to be a delay.
I'm an overseas customer - but I haven't been asked to provide any faxed confirmation (and I don't understand why I'd need to - I've never been asked to by other companies).
YourHost 01-06-2005, 12:04 PM You are correct you should not have to ask where your server is.
However if you are requesting assistance you need to at least supply what the name on the server order is.
Maybe we emailed you and you did not receive the email? Maybe we cancelled your order due to possible fraud. I have no clue?
As I stated it could be many things. But we have no way to tell what the status of your order is, if you are not going to provide who you are. I do not even know what type of server you ordered, Server Matrix or Total Control.
As stated in the earlier post drop us an email and we will be happy to assist you. We are here to help!
Jefff 01-06-2005, 12:14 PM I posted here because I thought people should know about the level of service (or not) customers are getting, I wasn't requesting any assistance.
I have sent an email, but haven't yet received a reply.
Jefff 01-06-2005, 03:00 PM After receiving no reply to my email to ThePlanet, I decided to use their live chat function, to see if they could help.
The person on the chat told me that servers take 24-48 hours to install - not the within 24 hours it said on the site.
Then eventually he was able to tell me that my order was cancelled, because they tried to phone me, but were unable to get in touch.
If they'd emailed me I could have made sure I was available when they wanted to speak to me. But they didn't. They didn't even send me an email to tell me they'd cancelled my order.
Then I was told my order couldn't be reinstated, I'd have to place a new order.
It's as though they don't want my business.
As a happy Rackshack customer for the last few years I was about to order a new server from them, until I saw this offer.
I think I'll give ThePlanet one more chance, because this offer looks much better than anything Rackshack can do at the moment, I just hope my experience is not typical of the level of support they give their customers.
Darkfire001 01-06-2005, 06:35 PM My server went online earlier today, and man Dual Xeon 2.8ghz with 2GB & Dual 120GB HD's is a friggin beast. More so for $199/Month hard to beat elsewhere.
PCTechMe 01-07-2005, 09:02 AM Agreed, I picked up one on the last special. Awesome machine and was up with W2k3 in about 3 hours. My 4the machine from TP/SM. The longest took about 10 hours TTL due to a Helm install problem that was rectified with a phone call to their very good support team.
KUDOS to SM/TP!! Only wish they had more geographically diverse locations like NY (hint)
