I've been looking at 4webspace.com and want to know how they can only charge 99$ for Up to 100GB of transfer? It sounds to good to be true whats the catch. I couldn't find anything on the site about how many IP's you get for that price im guessing 1 and i see nothing about a contract or on what type of sites they allow.

32megs of RAM isn't alot how many hits a day could 32megs of RAM handle on a site that used no cgi or anything? I wish they had more info posted.... i sent them mail asking though..........what other host have a dedicated server without a contract that's what im looking for :)


Is it best to do your own DNS or use a DNS service what's the advantage to doing your own and disadvantage to not. I read another post about free DNS i don't know how they can have that for free they must only allow 9,000 people to type in yourdomain.com a month or something you get what you pay for. Would providing your own DNS take up any server power?

You get 1 ip address ...... You get the option to use your own dns or tera-bytes in house dns. Id upgrade the ram if i was you.

well i order my US$99/month special a few hours ago and Steve's helping me with setting up my own dns - the advantages for me is i have over 40 domains to manage and park and it is alot easier to do it on your own dns.

As to the 100GB/month, you'll most like need ram upgrades before you hit that bandwidth peak -

you just order it today and already have it eva2000? please let me know how it goes..... only 1 ip don't you need 2 ips to do your own DNS.

yep i order 6 hrs ago and got access to it within 42 mins :)

i ordered an additional 30 ips for US$10/month and the order was completed in less than 20 mins :eek:

wow thats great how did you get more ips i didn't see any add ons on the sign up page unless it was on the next page.....so no contract? if no contract can't they raise the prices in a few months if they wanted to.

the ip section will be added shortly. as far as the monthly contract goes i did that so you are not locked into anything long term, i have been in the hosting business for 6 yrs to date i have never raised prices on any package i offer, if i cant do it i wont offer it. but if it makes you feel better ill allow you to prepay as many months as you want at 99.00 each and you will then have a contract and not have to worry about raising prices.

How come the RAM is so expensive? 256MB costs $389. I can buy 256MB for less than $200, what's the difference?

Another question, what if customer cancels the account, will he get the money back for the RAM, (or PHP, MySQL function) he's paid?

yes the ram is a bit high but i don't care since i only have to pay for it once.........thats better then adding on a extra 100 a month for more RAM i think...... you can get a raq3 with 256MB of ram for $99 a month who could beat that price with no contract? :)


I dought if you get your money back for the extra ram and all thats kinda like setup fees? you never get them back

I see that the prices are up now for IPs.

I also see that they don't allow adult sites why can't you have adult sites on a dedicated server? my guess is because they know that 100GB would actually be used why not go ahead and say no image sites or any file over 65k or anything that would use that would use bandwidth you should be able to use a dedicated server in any way you want as long as it's legal that's the hole point in going dedicated!! but 4webspace has limitations like a virtual host.

having an adult site hosted is not always a bandwidth issue, first off the AUP that's currently up there is the one for my web hosting clients and I haven't had a chance to adjust it yet, adult hosting is allowed on 4webspace same as it is for any other dedicated server I host. the reason some hosts don't allow adult hosting is perception not bandwidth related, there are also issues with complaints that need to be addressed when adult content is allowed. however my reason is quite simple the 4webspace site is still brand new and the pages are still being built, I have the webmaster put something up then I modify it to my needs.

I know everyone is interested in this new deal, but we really would like to keep specific questions to hosts limited on the forums. Seriously, guys, he's right. The best thing you can do is contact the web host directly by email or by phone and say "how long is this good for?" This, if nothing else, will preserve precious bandwidth space on here for me to fill it with my inane ramblings.

I did mail them Monday morning and wed but never got a reply :(
