Please let us know what is the goal of your campaign - what is the URL of your company, and if possible what is the budget, this way we'll be able to give you the right direction.

Some places I have learned to trust for advertising in the past:

Ad Networks

ValueClick.com
FastClick.com
DoubleClick.net
Adtegrity.com

Hosting Directories

TopHosts.com
WebHostDir.com
FindSP.com (Lonny's site.)
HostChart.com

PPC Search Engines

Overture.net
Sprinks.com
FindWhat.com
Kanoodle.com
Engine54.com

Standard Search Engines w/ Ads

Google.com Ad Words
Yahoo.com Banners (i bet these are expensive.)

I had the same question not too long ago. I'm on a few PPC Search Engines, Ad in a magazine, etc. but most of my customers come from the free listings on the various Web Host Directories.

I was so impressed by the free listings I'm anxious to see what happens when I do some paid advertising on those same directories in a few days.

**keeping fingers crossed**

The other listings mentioned by the other posters is not a bad idea either. I find after a short time you'll get the feel for which advertising niche is best for you.

We get ALL of our customers from WebHostingTalk.com and other hosting-related forums. I'm talking about 100% !!
It's cheap (read: FREE) and fun to do. :D

One negative thingie: takes a whole lot more time until you get your first customers... We started end December, and got our first customer on about January the 20th.

But once you've started, they keep coming and coming... :)

Later...
