Hello,

I have just been royally screwed by X-Gravity.net with my reseller plan  and now need to find another one. Can someone recommend a reputable reseller plan that has good uptime that can offer me close to what I am looking for:

Quota: 2GB
Bandwidth: 40GB
cPanel/WHM
Private NS IPs
MySQL
GD w/ Freetype

PRICE: ~$18.00/mo

Thanks!

With the prices you're looking for, it shouldn't be that difficult to locate a new hosting company (and you'll get plenty of offers by virtue of posting here). :-)

I am curious as to how you were screwed by X-Gravity? What did they do?

Have been with Citadelhost for almost a year now.
Their email support was quite good.
You can see the uptime status from my website.

With that requirement I think It's not to dificult to find another good ones. Search in this forum and in the web hosting offers.

Regards,
Danny

I signed up with X-Gravity the middle of last year and had a great track record with them. They had the occasional problems but they were usually resolved quickly and the support was great. If I had any questions I could email or post in the forums and get a quick response.

Yesterday I received an email saying that there was some hard drive problems and they would have to replace the second hard drive. They promise backups of everything daily so I thought "No big deal"

Then I got an email today saying that they could not replace the hard drive and could also not recover any backups because the server was put together with wrong IDE controllers.

We are not able to get backups as they were on the server as well. We will be cancelling all subscriptions for those that were on hercules. As there is nothing we can do anymore, we wish you the best of luck with your new host.

Please do not reply to this email as it will go nowhere.

So, in essence, leaving a loyal customer out to dry.

Uh oh. That sounds like pretty bad luck for you. You should find out about which datacenter they were using since a lot of hosting companies that have to do restores get put into similar situations and don't want the wrong hands messing with their servers.

That being said, things can go wrong if the hosting company is unclear on what they want the datacenter to do. Anyhow, I feel your pain. :-(

Seems, now they are looking for some more customers.;)

Anyway, sorry to hear your story. Suggest you to look at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=4 and use Hostquote feature to short list webhosts.

Also use search feature to find reviews on hosting companies.

From, my personal experience I can reccomend you to check www.sonataweb.net.

Wish you all the best in your host hunt.

The datacenter they claimed to use was the NOC in New York. Just looked on their website and they have this notice:

X-Gravity Co. moves into dedicated servers completely.

What kind of host would just dump all their clients because they had lost all the data on their server?

Anyways, I have received a couple offers that I am looking into. Please continue to send offers and I will consider them. I will post here when I find one that I decide I am going to go with.

err... it's against the rules for host to send you offers. If they did, you should forward those ones to the moderators (SoftwareRevue, Anon-E-Mouse, Oddfact...etc). Gotta remember, if a host can't follow the simple rules of a business forum, how the heck are they supposed to be able to serve you in a reasonable fashion?

It is against the rules even if I have solicited the offers?

Did I post in the wrong part of the board? :(

Yeah, even if the thread poster asks for offers, the host cannot send any. Unfortunately there are not any request forums anymore because of problems they created, however there is a HostQuote function available at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/request.php.

I second that errrrr. Just think how much this is probably abused daily here. My guess is ALOT, and its not fair.

Yet its the rules. If you cannot read the rules, and abide by them, then they shouldn't be here.

No doubt about that. I'm almost 99.99999% (There's no such thing as 100% ... remember that) certain that the same people spamming through PM's are the same one's that will be out of business in 3 months.

usually the google adwords section (when searching google) helps to find popular hosting companies.

If the company wants to keep your business. They should send that HD to a drive recovery company. It will cost them $$, but many pro recovery companies can grab lost data. If they spent the $$ and got your data back, how happy would that make you feel?

:D

Cheers,

Carlos

Actually, I got notified on the 3rd that they are doing just that. Maybe they realized it was not such a good idea to screw over that many customers?

Anyways, I have found a new host and so far am EXTREMELY happy with them :)

I went with Hostivo (http://www.hostivo.com/billing/index.php?aid=eag62522) They have fast and friendly support, very reasonable prices and a solid server with good speeds. I will try and post a full review once I have a little more time with them under my belt, but for now I am very happy with them! :)
