an upgrade script deleted a datatase instead of updating it
is it possible for the database to be recovered
(i didnt have backuyps switched on)
my hosting company are looking into this just now
(i normally back up so no whining at me!!! - lol)

Nope, once is gone its gone. You can check to see if the files are still there in your mysql data directory but its unlikely.

i thought as much - been reading about recoery on the internet and a few sites have suggested otherwise
i think my hosting company may backup all files periodically and make a mysql dump so heres hoping :)

Short answer : No.
Long answer : Not unless you have root on the box, not unless you can shut down everything for a while, not guaranteed, and not without a lot of time and energy.

yeah - im already doing some coding to get the site back up .But i still havent got a reply from dinix (whose support in general has been superb). A lot of time and energy wouldnt bother me - as id pay for additional time used to get it.
But once i know either way i can move on :)
