Ok. Since I've seen quite a few posts about Gearhost here (which is how I learned about them) I thought I would share my experiences.
I've been with Gearhost since the beginning of the year and I paid for 3 months in advance (a very reasonable $44). I have the 500MB plan and for the most part, I've been satisfied. "For the most part" being the operative words.

I've had some support issues, and generally, their support has been stellar. Quick turnaround times, knowledgeable staff, etc. I haven't tried the phone support, since I believe in the support ticket process, which they use. I'm sure they are swamped with issues, so I think that 24 hour responses are great. SOmetimes, it's less than that!
The problems that I have with Gearhost include the fact that they have been promising, time and again, fixes to many aspects of the iControl admin interface that have yet to be implemented.

For example, the "We are scheduling to go live with the accounts information section within this week" post has been up for more than a month now. During this time I have not been able to obtain any logs or account details, page stats, etc. I had to open a trouble ticket today for them to look at it, and they responded that it had not been set up correctly on their end. Oops! Hopefully it is now fixed.
What works on the interface works well, but perhaps there should be more realistic timeframes posted. I have also had minor occurrances of my site being down without warning of routine maintenance, or that any problems had occurred. At most, my sites were down for 1-3 hour clips (that I know of), but I haven't seen that in 2 weeks or so.
In addition, I've had difficulties with the initial setup of a mySQL database (my trouble ticket has been open for a week now). Those are the cons...here are the pros.

The staff there is great. In fact Ryan contacted me directly when I was having initial problems with my domain setup, and his customer-centric attitude sold me on the company.
I hope you don't think I'm down on Gearhost, I'm not. I think they have amazing potential and I'm happy to be with them. However, I also believe in full disclosure.

Thanks for listening...I hope this helps you in whatever decision you make.

I learned Gearhost from this board, and ve used it for more than a month. Overall is satisfactory.

Although my site was down once, it was up again quickly.
Speed is not very fast, but cannot use slow to describe.

There're problems in initial setup, but who cares that anymore once you got support and could operate shortly?

I think Gearhost worth a try. Just want to say that.
