Ive had a few .nets and .coms kick in in about 3 - 4 minutes recently with Namecheap.

Not sure why though, it used to take at least 12 - 16 hours. But I am certainly not complaining :)

Shouldnt this be in domain name forum?

I was talking to a customer while I was setting up her account. As soon as I told her that I had completed creating her domain and hosting account, she replied "Yes I see it now". It had to have been 1 - 2 minutes. I use directi for my domain registrations. It would usually take about 24 hours.

an interesting note from a registrar itself. The registrar has no bearing on propagation times

It is called RapidDNS and it has to do with the registry not any one registrar.

I work for godaddy.com and set up my domain within 3 seconds... w00t, I just set a record?

Nah, jsut kidding, I dont work for godaddy or got a domaoin in 3 seconds :p. I think the quickest I had was like 24 hours though, and I've had 2 .com's and 1 .net so far.

Well, almost no bearing. After all, they gotta submit it first. ;)

I should've timed how long my new .com for my new blog kicked
in. But the domain registered in my account less than 2 minutes.

How soon it reached my site? Roughly 3-4 mins, probably 5.

My most recent ones were ready by the time i got my account set up on my WHM, must have been less than 5 min. I was amazed. I don't feel quite so special seeing others with the same or less.

None the less I am still very pleased, Cheers

this is definitely a namecheap thing

ever since i started using them, the service is better than what id been getting and also the names are MUCH faster!

(and cheaper!)

Actually it is more tied into the registrar (enom). They update in near real-time

My fastest was with namecheap. Hn...I dunno about minutes but I usually check after like 12 hours or so. ^^;;; I just know it resolved in less than 12 hours.

The underlying registry systems were changed over back in September. Verisign had been working on it for a long time before that. If your domains don't go live in 10 minutes now, your registrar isn't submitting in real time, go find another registrar that knows what they're doing!!!

being godaddy reseller, ours are sometimes instant, but sometimes a few hours, server clog up I guess
