Can anyone please tell me if they have any information about this hosting company? I need to move my site to a new Linux/Host with at least 15GB bandwidth. I'm particularly interested in their V500 (http://www.venturesonline.com/hosting/virtual-hosting.html) plan.

I need to know about service, support, reliability, etc. My last host got hacked (an NT box which I shouldn't have chosen anyway) and I was down for a week + and they had no backup.

Thanks,

HRBrendan

Do a search on the forums, you will find lots written about them, or goto their site and visit their forums directly, you should be able to get whatever info you need there.

Try searching on 'venturesonline' and 'venturesonline.com', since the *searchterm* does not work (so I found out)

VenturesOnline is great, we have our servers with them as do many other hosts. They are quite reliable and answer support requests quickly.

Yep, I can personally recommend VO, we have 5 servers with them, and I have only good things to say about their service and support.

For those of you using VO, what plan are you using?
How much bandwidth and what accounts for your bandwidth?
(I'm considering installing vBulletin or a similar forum package once I move.)

Now I have dedicated servers with them, but before that I was using a 200 MB plan for site with phpNuke and OpenBB and works great.

Regarding vBulletin: visit vbulletin.com/forum - there are many happty VO customers.

I have the v200 package with VO. The reason I chose them was because of all the positive feedback that I found on this site. While I've only been there a few months -- they have been very good with their support and I believe their Control Panel to be very extensive.

Anyone been with them more than a year? 2 years?

I have a V500, a V200 as well as a V50 account with them, support is swift, effective and friendly. The final place to stay. I'll definitely go dedicated with them later this year.

They havent been hosting sites longer than a year I dont think so I dont think so. They've been in business longer I think but they were involved in other things non hosting related before, at least thats what I've gathered.

I had a server with them for almost a year - actually - just after eva2000 got one :)

Started costing a lot because of bandwidth prices, so this month we moved to another host :(
Shame - will miss Pat/Daniel/Chuck etc

I find it interesting that you would be sad to leave them. That's quite a positive statement for them.

Hi ya

The server plan I had was the 50gb/m one for $300.
We used quite a bit more than that - and at about $3-$4 a GB in blocks of 10GB it was pushing it over $400 a month for a P3 866, 256mb ram (we added another 256mb), 30gb HD, Cpanel etc

Whilst we were there, we had no server issues - everything was very smooth. Support was great - even though it didn't seem to be 24/7 - but they had an emergency pager so if it was urgent, you can page them and they will sort it out.

As I said, the only reason we left was down to costs.

Regards,

James

I have a server there and it's been excellent. After the move to the new NOC, support is truely 24/7. I submitted a request for reboot since my server stalled and it took 10 minutes to do it. Not bad.. I also get helpdesk replies back within a matter of 15 min. Sometimes, I get replies back in a couple of minutes. I can't say enough good things about them.

BTW, I've had my server there for about 10 months or so.

etc

yeah my Oscars/film site traffic is lagging behind in updates but traffic jumped from 600 visitors/day to 9,000 visitors/day since the nominations were announced :)

last year film/oscars site during Oscars night hit 18,000+ visitors/day!
