Stargate just double-billed me for a domain that I recently signed up. I've had nothing but problems with them lately and this is now getting rediculous. Of course, any support issues you send to them aren't answered for days and calling their long distance number only gets you to voice mail. I left a message this time stating that I will run a charge back on the additional charge if I don't get a call back by the end of the business day today. I can't believe how fast they have gone downhill. They used to be a respected registrar and I know some still feel they are but after this and the past two weeks of similar actions, I firmly believe that you get what you pay for with them.

Hello
I have to agree.
We had a problem with domains appearing to be registered which had not.
This caused us to revert to OpenSRS and even after a few weeks we were still finding domains unregistered which we had paid for and then had to reregister at OpenSRS.

They have a number of fuindamental problems caused by their systems being unable to cope without rehular reboots.
Their WHois has been unobtainable for a while on recursive queries because it screwed up and switched all the registrants around.

A lot of this is due to them running WIndows servers.
I know some people will shoot me down for that but its definitley related.

We were one of their larger customers.

Stargate may come back on form but right now its a definite avoid at all costs situation.

You just reminded me of something that is probably why this happened. The first time I tried to register the specific domain, it didn't go through. I had to enter it a second time. I bet it did eventually go through according to their systems and it never got caught that I already paid for it. That's all right. The domain is paid up and as soon as 60 days pass, it's being transferred.

I will still contact ICANN, the BBB, and whomever else can help with this should they put up a fight.

i've had my fair share of problems. I normally send them an e-mail or better still try to get hold of them online with the live chat system. The tickets rarely get answered.

I've never had any problems with disputes though (so far)

Their live chat system hasn't been around for ages. Even when it was around, I always was given a screen with their hours when trying to use it. Even when trying to contact them during normal business hours.

Also, I've heard that if you dispute (charge back) a domain registrar, that they can take the domain back. Is this true? I am not disputing that I wanted the domain, just that they billed me twice for the same thing. Thanks for your suggestions.

I tried registering some domains with these guys a while back, but the registration process kept doing funny things and eventually it refused my CC or something like that..........but I am very glad about that, as all the registrars I am with now are very good.....

i had considered stargateinc. I registered one domain with them in which I had troubles. I recently asked about their bulk pricing and they didnt even bother replying to me.
I am glad i went and stay with enom. I have been with enom for about six months. The service is very good, the price is good and the easy to use interface is excellent, compared to those other cut price domain registrars.

I have had domains going astray, new domains registered not showing in the Admin control panel.

I know of someone using their url forwarding who was like totally dead for two days.

I've started using www.godaddy.com who appear to be very good.

Stargateinc have blown it for me.

Kind regards

I received the refund from the double-billing from Stargate. I was able to get in touch with someone at Stargate earlier this week and they reversed the second charge.

Now I just am waiting to have two more domains transferred. I processed three transfers to Dotster from Stargate and one went through yesterday. I hope, and assume, that the other two will go through today.
