Is there a way to find out whether or not a domain is locked? (assuming I don't own the domain)

I'm thinking of something like whois.sc that would say if a domain is locked or not.

Why? You going to try and hijack it?.

You can look at the Status

You can use a whois website (whois.sc is one) and look at status (like DecentHost said).

Most services like checkdomain.com or even netsols whois will show ACTIVE if the name is not locked or PROTECTED if it is locked
