View Full Version : Cyberwings Launches Dedicated Servers in New Data Center

Cyberwings

Beginning in March 2002, Cyberwings.com will be offering Dedicated Servers at our new private data center in Portland, Maine USA.

We will be offering two types of dedicated server pricing plans. STRICTLY RENTALS and RENTING TO OWN your dedicated server. Each plan and each server have separate setup fees & monthly fees which can all be viewed on our website at:

http://www.cyberwings.com/dedicated/

ONLY FIVE (5) of each server package will be available during the first TWO MONTHS of our data center being open. This will allow us to get a few customers in the data center while we work out our staffing schedules, support FAQ's and work on policy clarifications.

* PLESK 300 Domain License instead of PLESK Unlimited - due to popular demand.

* Bandwidth has been scaled 75gb to 150gb per server, going from Server 1 through Server 4.

* Additional bandwidth fee has changed from $2.00/gb to $1.50/gb.

* Setup Fees have been set at $350 for a Rent to Own server and $200 for a Rental Only Server.

* Monthly fees have been reduced on most plans.

* Servers have been changed from Intel P4 to AMD Athlons (1.4ghz) due to popular demand.

* Instead of EIGHT (8) IP's with a server, we're now giving TEN (10).

* All servers will have a genuine 3COM 10/100 NIC in them now - NOT on board NIC.

Please visit our website for FULL details at:

We're starting out with a SMALL data center - only 20 boxes will be available during our first 2 months of service. However, from there, the sky will be the limit and we will add Staff and Bandwidth steadily to accomodate all future growth.

THE BIG QUESTIONS we know you're wondering are answered on our website! Please take a minute to read through. We hope you'll consider Cyberwings in the future for your Dedicated Server needs.

Definitely a good offer. Some questions not answered on your site:
Why P4?
Other control panels available?
SCSI available?
And please some more info about the NOC, SLA,...

Our dedicated servers are connected via FOUR T-1 lines. We have a constant 6.144mb/s coming into and out of our data center in Portland, Maine at all times. We add T1's are the rate of 1 every 8 new servers. For every 8 additional servers we bring online, we will add a T-1. All T-1's are inverse multiplexed to allow for complete redundancy amongst the T-1's - if any T goes down, all others will immediately compensate for the outage! We NEVER want to have a HUGE data center - we want to start out as a small, customer service oriented data center, and move up in the dedicated hosting world from there.

Is that good enough to run a few dedicated servers on?

Yes, it is actually enought

it doesn't matter what you have (well, as long as it's not DSl of curse ;) ) .. it matters is the usage

As long as they have enought bandwidth to server everybody and leftover .. it's fine

Right now these are going to be the basic servers with only one IDE drive - I do have plans to offer SCSI (single and duals) with RAID in 1-3 months after the data center opens.

In our data center we will have an uptime guarantee - an SLA - but not quite yet. As we're JUST opening the data center, I do not FORESEE any problems, but I do not want to make any up front guarantees that I am unable to keep the at first while we work out little issues. I can tell you that our upstream provider, LighShip Telecom, last year had a 99.879% uptime (yes, really), and they are VERY responsive to my needs.

As for the T1's, we believe it will be enough. And notice we clearly outline that another T1 will be added for every 8 servers we add to the Network. We're going to start out small and see where it goes from there.

The critical piece to OUR dedicated server program is that you have the opportunity to build EQUITY in your server - you're not just throwing money down a deep dark hole to nowhere.

I realize that you are just beginning to do dedicated, but will Athlons and/or P3 become available in the near future?

Read their page and you'll see that it states that the main site and some servers (10 I think) for the virtual hosting clients are at Rackshack.

Just wanna ask the same questions that Walter asked.

Other CP avaliable? like Ensim or Cpanel.

Those are some really cheap prices...70 dollars for 100 GB of bandwidth and a server on top of it. Bandwidth alone costs more than 70 dollars...

downkaos, Cyberwings haven't moved to their new data center yet which IS in Maine. That's why dedicated servers are only being offered from March 2002.

I think they're planning on offering a discounted price if you don't want Plesk. You could then install whatever CP you want.
