Awebhosting 02-14-2002, 06:17 PM We have revised our original post, to clearify some questions we have received.
RackMy.com 02-14-2002, 06:44 PM Nice offer, one comment.
Windows 2000 Server SP2SRP1 with VNC or pcAnywhere host. I would recommend MS Terminal Service. It's cheaper and more stable than PCA and way more secure than VNC.
Awebhosting 02-14-2002, 06:49 PM Actually we may start offering Timbuktu Pro in addition to the others.
We wanted to be universal.
To login with Terminal Service, you need a windows machine.
we have people logging in to W2k server with Macs, etc.
Of sourse, if you want to login with Terminal Service, we can set it up for you. Since it is part of W2k.
Awebhosting 02-14-2002, 06:51 PM NOTE on 40Gb ATA-100/133 HD
Currently RedHat 7.2 and Mandrake 8.1 doe snot recognize the ATA-133 controller.
So under Linux it will run as a ATA-100.
On Windows 2000 Server on the other hand, there is a driver for Windows 2000, and will be running in ATA-133 (133Mbs)
allera 02-14-2002, 07:10 PM I was just wondering, will these servers be in the West Palm, FL data center? If not, where is the data center and who are your providers?
Awebhosting 02-14-2002, 07:29 PM A post from the company who our firewall just caught Port Scanning our network.
How interesting.

allera 02-14-2002, 07:59 PM It wasn't a port scan, it was a traceroute. I can show you the results if you want. :) I was trying to determine where the datacenter was located because I'm from West Palm and it would be nice to colocate down there.
Hope you weren't implying anything by your post.
Interesting indeed.
Awebhosting 02-14-2002, 08:39 PM Just was odd alert as you can see from the firewall report.
Our main IDC is here in WPB, FL where we use UUNet.
These servers will probably be located in Miami, FL.
And have multihomes bandwidth. With the PRI as Cogent.
We currently are looking at both Miami and Tampa.

Na, not odd. Odd would be a rapidfire of probes. Those were 20 seconds apart. Not a very effective port scan if it was one.
We have our servers in Jax right now, and plan to keep them there, but I'd like to have some Cogent accessibility, and maybe something in WPB. Just looking for some network diversity.
What are your colocation pricing schemes for the WPB and Miami facilities? Do you own the facilities or do you colo there?
Thanks! :)
Awebhosting 02-14-2002, 10:41 PM The West Palm Beach, FL is ours.
The co-location pricing can be found at:
http://awebhosting.net/products/colocation/index.htm
The other one we will be sharing it with another company in the beginning to see how it goes.
If all goes well, we will rent our own office there, and have 2 IDC's.
We do not currently have any pricing, since both offers for Tampa and Miami are being reviewed.

How much for plesk & Cpanel? Will you offer Ensim Webapplicaton?:)
Awebhosting 02-15-2002, 12:04 AM How many domains will you be running on Plesk?
Since they have different license levels.
Cpanel/WHM is $75.00/Month
We do not offer Enism currently.
There WEBppliance 3.0 for Linux can be purchased directly thru their website, if you would like to run it.
We are also looking at another control panel that has not been released yet, which is suppose to be better than Cpanel.

Ummm actually ... you can use the Citrix Metaframe add-on product on a non MS OS to connect to W2k TS - I don't know if it's free tho. :)
But there is even an 'Advanced TS Client' that can be imbedded into a webpage if you wanted. Makes TS even more useful. ;)
Awebhosting 02-15-2002, 05:50 AM Servers also with be monitored with WhatsUp Gold and have e-mail alerts.
Which will alert us, and you, IF there is ever a problem.
All of our current dedicated servers receive this service, free of charge.
