View Full Version : Pegasus - Grade [A+]
acetate 02-12-2002, 11:59 PM After hell with our previous dedicated server provider (name taken out), we decided to go ahead and purchase our own server for colocation. The decision was hard at first to decide on which company would provide good support and fair prices:
AffordableColo
VenturesOnline
Pegasus Web Technologies
IntenseInfo - Chicago DC
After several days of hard thinking..We decided to try it out with Pegasus (http://www.pwebtech.com).. Shipped the server overnight and it was up the following day. Pretty good so far..eh. Part of our contract with Pegasus was for them to move all our accounts from my previous server onto our new one which all of you who had to convert webpanel to cpanel4 knows it a pain in the donkey's arse.. Well.. It a few hours to complete the move and a few more to clean things up since the accounts had duplicate last digits in their ips (thanks Jason for all your time). Their customer support doesn't stop there.. They really go the extra mile I would say by checking up with us every day to see how it goes.. Everytime when we had a question about our server, we would receive a prompt and professionally.. Anyways, for those of you looking for colocation or dedicated server hosting keep Pegasus Web Technologies (http://www.pegasus.com) in mind.
Grade as follows:
Customer Service = A
Professionalism = A
Data Center = A
Thank you for your time. =)
major 02-13-2002, 08:03 AM I can only say I agree. Pegasus really goes the extra mile for clients. They are cheap, reliable and provides good support overall. I am very pleased with them.
HostingDirect 02-13-2002, 03:07 PM I have also had an exceptional experience with Pegasus.
I had a very similar situation, I had to move from my old host very quickly (because of very bad network reliability at the old host) and it was also a webpanel to a cpanel move to a Pegasus provided box.
Jason was great to work with, he helped move all of my data to the new server then he stepped me through everything I needed to do. He stayed in regular contact over the next several days to make sure everything was going well. I have never had such great follow up and ongoing interaction from previous hosts.
Pegasus gets an A+ from me! You will not be disappointed!
Alan - Vox 02-13-2002, 04:50 PM I agree pegasus have some of the best support ive ever had from a company.
They really helped me out when i was having problems with the servers. They replaced the hardware on a server, done a total of 3 server rebuilds, spent many hours getting my servers back online and done about 50 reboots for me all in the last month.
If only they could get their ip numbers and bandwidth a bit cheaper ;)
greggish 02-16-2002, 10:32 AM I see that alot of hosts use Pegasus. So I'm assuming that you have to call and actually talk to them to get their real prices, because the prices they list are in the statosphere.

He means that when he visits your link the order button points to http://pwebtech.com/linuxconfig.html which doesn't work and the customize button has no link at all.
But their website is like that since months.

Yeah, I have the same feeling too :D
I've heard many good things about Pwebtech and was interested to try them out, but it's a pity that their pricing (on the web site) is too expensive for the configuration they offered.
jayglate 02-16-2002, 03:03 PM Our website pricing is way off. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to IM me or email me at the below info.
mdrussell 02-16-2002, 03:40 PM Any plans for a new website Jay? :D :)
panopticon 02-16-2002, 03:47 PM Clicked on "chat with us" to see what the current prices are and got:

Thank you.
jayglate 02-16-2002, 03:56 PM We disabled it, nobody used it much.
panopticon 02-17-2002, 08:18 PM I never did get pricing info. I got a response to my first PM, but not the second asking what the price would be for a PIII 750 / 256 MB Ram, at least 18 GB of storage, and 65 GB of transfer a month.
BiGWill 02-18-2002, 08:24 AM i do wonder, how pwebtech's backbone looks like, as their website states "With over 15 Diverse Provider Connections...." but i tried more then 20 traceroutes from all around the globe (to pwebtech.com), and i'm always just getting that nac.net pipe. so is it still just one pipe feeding the colo, or how does their feed look like?!

Pegasus are located in the NAC datacenter, which has 15 providers (I think Jay told me it was closer to 40).

Matt
freakysid 02-18-2002, 10:08 AM Thats correct, AFIAK, its the NAC noc which has the multiple connections which pwebtech connects directly to.
BiGWill 02-18-2002, 10:13 AM ah, i see.
thought they had their own datacenter.
thanks for the info!
