I am looking for a free or inexpensive software solution that could help me out. Basically what I need is an email ticket application where if I email support@mysite.com, it will be assigned a ticket number and auto responded to saying basically "This is your ticket number, we will get back to you ASAP. Any followup for this problem, add the ticket number to the subject." Another is Live Chat, any inexpensive solutions for that?

Perldesk is good and will do what you want. Not too expensive either.

www.cerberusweb.com < free for one email address. Pretty much the best free solution out there if you don't mind the one email address limit (i.e. support@yourdomain.com, you can't have anything else going into the system apart from that).

Thanks tickedon, I ended up using that. support is the only one that really needs a ticket system as billing is handled by only me.
