Thanks RackMy.com 02-12-2002, 07:40 PM Most advanced Layer 3 switches can; Foundry, Extreme, Cisco, etc. allan 02-12-2002, 08:34 PM Mike is right, a multilayer switch is your best bet. The Alteon 18x boxes are too expensive on a per-port basis to use simply for bandwdith management. If you are looking for a dedicated box, take a look at the: PacketShaper: http://www.packeteer.com/products/packetshaper/index.cfm QOSWorks: http://www.sitaranetworks.com/products/qosworks/ allan 02-12-2002, 08:46 PM Originally posted by Dilhole Which products can aggregate/cap bandwidth. To answer your other question, load balancing products similar to the Alteon 180 are: Cisco Arrowpoint Foundry ServerIron F5 Big IP Radware WSD BurstNET 02-12-2002, 09:21 PM http://www.etinc.com/ Sean R. BurstNET toro 02-12-2002, 10:53 PM You could cap using "tc" in linux or "ipfw" in fbsd to do traffic shaping. ReliableServers 02-13-2002, 01:58 AM I was looking at the alteon to cap on per IP basis, no way in hell I would use that to cap on a perport. Ill look at these other products mentioned. Its quite confusing because they don't mention this at all on their site. |
