Hi guys and gals ;) ,
I'm not new to this matter (webhosting at linux etc) at all, but kinda new in this forum, which I like BTW.
Well let's kick off.
I'm looking for a management tool for my business to give some clients access to their own zonefiles in our DNS-servers. I was recommend the package called ISP-GOLD however I haven't been able to find it somewhere (perhaps wrong name?).
The package should enable clients to add own subdomains for example without asking our support people. Should run on a linux box.
Any suggestions are very welcome and very much appreciated.
Take care,
Rob

What's Up is probably not what you are looking for, it is more of a montiroing tool:

You may want to look at installing a control panel on your server, something like Plesk, Ensim, or Webmin (add www. and .com to the names to visit their respective web sites :D).
If you are looking for something DNS specific, take a look at oDNS: http://sourceforge.net/projects/odns/
It may do what you want, but last time I checked, it was fairly complicated to configure. The project has also not been updated in a while, so it may be dead.

Yeah thanks, currently we are running webmin (0.92) on most of our boxes but we think it is not flexible enough (last version is very good though).
Do you have issues whith the other packages Ensim and plesk ?? Any pointer or not running them at all ?
Thanks

Check out Incognito DNSCommander.

Worth the cost.. Great company and the product works like a champ.

I've used webmin to create DNS options, just by creating a DNS group and adding users to that group, assigning them certain domains. If you are looking for just DNS control, then Ensim and Plesk are probably overkill as they allow for a lot more control.
Of course there are potential security issues with any software that allows as much control as these control panels do, but I think Plesk and the new version of Ensim do a very good job of trying to contain those security issues.
I recently stumbled on a couple of them. Some have further links to similar software.

Wish there was a finished one among them but there isn't :)

Yeah I saw your post and visited them all. Found one which was worth investigating (perlbased it was, I think, I haven't installed it yet).
I get the feeling that plesk is probably the best solution with all the extra add ons in the package. What are you using yourself ?
Take care.

Well, we do use Plesk on some of our servers but if you need just a DNS control panel, Plesk would be a bit too much... Both performance and cost vise. Or is it a full hosting control panel that you need?
Take a look at http://everydns.net - one of the admins is a member of WHT, perhaps they could give you some advice on software or even sell you theirs...
