I recently signed up with GearHost and have been having some issues with their iControl application.

I realize that this is an evolving area of their site, but I've had problems with such areas as subdomains and other DNS issues.

I've used CPanel3 before, and between the two, I'd prefer CPanel.

Is it just me?

Well, you're the boss, so you have my blessing to do as you see fit...

I just know that there are quite a few GearHost subscribers here, and that due to the fact that the iControl panel is a proprietary panel, the Web Hosting forum would be the place for it.

Subdomains rely on having the main domain (primary) zone loaded. There was a bug in iControl where the primary domains wouldn't create, thus subdomains on your primary domain would give an iControl error. Additional domains are mute from this bug though (go figure ;)). Regardless, the bug has been fixed for all new accounts, and most accounts have been fixed. If you have a problem still you would need to create a support ticket.

I've sent a ticket in, as my primary domain is loaded, and I have (a few times) deleted and re-created the subdomain and pointed it to the appropriate directory, only to see the subdomain point to the primary. Also, it looks like I've got to delete (and confirm) the subdomains twice before they are actually deleted.


Again, I realize that iControl is still in development and is continuously evolving, but I still find it buggy. Maybe it's just me, but although it is intuitive, it does not seem to actually make the changes/additions that I'm trying to make.
