How do host companies, that offer reselling, offer DNS to their customers?

Does is cost anything? If you customer own a domain will the registration of the Name server be free?

What steps do they go through?

Thanks!

It's quite simple and costs only 2 IP's! :)

The nemeservers ns1.yoursite.com and ns2 will be givne by the registrar.. the host provider has to give 2 IP's dedicated to your nameservers and configure the DNS server to listen to those IP's

If some one is charging you for it then they are actually charging for 2 ip's only

By how many registrars can you register your nameserver?
How can you make your resellers use the new nameservers? I suppose Plesk or Cpanel support this very easily or what?

Most registrars should have this option. Dotster does right in their control panel for example. If you don't see it available most times, an e-mail to support will clear it up. If they say they don't, or charge for it, then move the domain to one that will - there's plenty of them.

Can't speak for Plesk but CPanel does it quite easiey (or rather WHM - the admin end of it all)

As for making them use them? In most cases I'd imagine they'd be happy to have the chance to use them, rather than using your own (unless you're using 'generic' type nameservers that don't really look like you in the first place.)

Plesk can ;). As a matter of fact we don't need to edit anything in Plesk, so after the nameservers are registered with the Registrar, it's all set.
