I'm starting to resell windows hosting soon and I'm curious how many customers to expect in first 3 months for example?
I know that all depends of my prices, support and advertisement, but I need something like average numbers. 10, 20, 100?

Since I am the only one, the average is now 0. Hopefully I'll do better this time, with a new host, new plans, new website.

Its really impossible to say how much you can expect in that period of time. It all depends on your marketing strategy and how much money you intend to invest into your company. But if you want an answer, I would say anywhere from 0 - 100.

this question is basically impossible to answer just because of the number of variables involved....
but based on what I know and have heard, I would say anywhere from 0 - 400.....There is one guy around here that got something like 400 customers in 3 months.......

Yes, and to be fair the number of customers doesn't really matter. What is important is profit. I mean you might get 100 clients if you go for a $2.95 price, but only 10 if you charge $20.95 for the very same package.

And as has been posted here quite often - the lower the price, the more support work you usually have to do :(

0 signup in 3 months is highly unbelievable.
Unless you did your website using Microsoft Word and did no marketing.

how is it possible to have 400 customers on reselling accounts. So far every reseller I talked to says I am limited to maximum of 60 accounts to 100.

Easy, multiple reseller accounts, or reseller accounts like MCHost where space and bandwidth are the only limitations.

you mean MC host will let you host 1000 accounts under your own DNS? How come no other reseller offer that. So far every one has told me that reselling is good for up to 60 70 accounts after that you should get your own dedicated server.

I used to have a reseller account with over 250 domains and using just under 10Gbs of bandwidth. The only limits I had were the amount of bandwidth.

I have moved on from there and I would never put a limited on domains in my reseller accounts as bandwidth is the only fair method when it comes to reselling...

What does it matter how many customers you get in the first 3 months? I think the question should be "How much profit were you making after the first 3 months?". Anyone can offer plans with 10GB bandwidth for $20/yr and get hundreds or even thousands of customers, but they will offcourse be losing money.

Our first 2 Months till this day of Normal Hosting.. ( We have been doing expensive business hosting for a while)

We have spent over $6000 Dollars on OFFLINE marketing, i know this was a bad choice now, we had a couple of magazines, sales people going out to local companies and offering them hosting services, mail drops etc etc.

All this racked up customer to the amount of ZERO!

We did not get one customer out of anything we have tried...

Even on WHT we have advertised, this did bring some customers in through the door...

We are charging excellent prices to e.g 150megs 3 gig=$6m but still no big sales!

Its hard to come into a diffrent league or even to start!

Just hang in there and they will come... So we hope, we have another business to fall upon, if you dont make sure you dont waste all your money on this project!

In 2 weeks (exactly), we had 10 orders. Out of those 10 orders, 1 was for the smallest plan, 5 were for the highest monthly plan, 4 were for the yearly plan.

If you just put your site up and don't do any advertising or promotion, the answer is zero....

If you spend money correctly to promote your business, results will come. It is a numbers game, and to present any business to numbers costs money.

dang... 400 accounts in 3 months? what did you do... bought out those host indexes?

Nope. $50.00 got the ball rolling and word of mouth has done the rest. Oh and a little help from a Joint Venture and Google. Google is your friend :D

When we started in the hosting business, under a different name and reselling we got an average of 2 customers a week from week one. This was from using google add words, which does not seem to work any more. We are now no longer re-selling and get on average at least 1 new signup a day.
