I am looking for a simple softwar eot edit my website with and I have tried the demo of dreamweaver and it seems to almost be more than I really need, I also noticed contribute which I think it a new Macromedia product and I was wondering how the two are compared. I will basically be just editing some things in my sites template PSD with Photoshop and moving some things around, editing text etc in my existing site so I really am looking for something simple.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or feedback on these two for a total newb and which one would be better for me.

Please note I do not know any html and I did mess around with Frontpage for a while but after some very harsh reviews decided to hir someone to do my site

Contribute is the polar opposite of a 'simple' tool, it really kind of bridges the gap between an HTML authoring tool and a CMS system, so it's probably not what you're looking for.

Dreamweaver is the ideal tool for the job as far as conventional tools go (unless you tough it out with notepad ;)), so I would suggest toughing it out. If you really want to shop around though, Adobe GoLive is another great (but arguably even MORE powerful and deep) editor. Naturally GoLive has a lot of Photoshop/Illustrator integration, so if you're mostly playing around in Photoshop anyway... :)

Contribute is not a stand alone product. It requires a webmaster to configure the site templates to determine which parts of the pages can be edited by contribute users. It is also very limited in what it can produce, static html only.

The topic of which WYSIWYG is recommended has come up plenty of times in this forum, do a search and you'll find plenty of advice.

My advice, since your requirements are so simple, is to actually learn basic html. You could probably get away with knowing how to use a dozen or so HTML tags to do everything you want.
