Hi,

I am moving my reseller account to a new host this month, and have notified my customers of this. I have also asked that they email me their cpanel login/password so that the new host can copy their sites over to the new server. I did this 2 weeks ago, and none of my customers have responded. If I don't get this info this week, I'll have to renew my current hosting for another month all because they won't respond.

Do I have the authority to change their passwords so I can get these sites moved? and risk making them mad at me? Or should I just wait and waste money for another month for the old host account?

Thanks
Charles

I'd say waste money because most likely your customers will not trust you and then get mad at you then leave your hosting biz.

the best is email them again and tell them is urgent as if you change your customer login password directly sure their will feel unhappy abt it

I would go ahead and change their passwords, transfer the sites and email them letting them know what you have done and that they may login with the new password and change it back.

Also I'm sure some customers would not want to give you their personal passwords for their accounts.

I agree with Netpet.

You can go ahead with the new server, copy all your domains and files in it and reset the passwords for them and send it to your existing clients.

But what i would suggest along with is not to take any risk with there data and emails. So even after transferring the domans to new one, you can continue with the old host for atleast a month to see if everything is going fine with your domains and clients. And then when everything seems right, you leave your old host.
