I am trying to find out a good dialup service (ISP)for a friend of mine who is interested in opening a business (Virtual ISP) to offer it in Canada and the US (In addition to Hosting).

I searched many places and got many sites like Privatelabel, a1wholesale, and dialupusa but most are resellers for an unknown source to me..

When I checked those sites, they all have basically the same package but different monthly fees and points to safepages.com and have the same backroom.

Does anybody knows what company is the source of most of those resellers? doing a whois on safepages.com does not help alot.

Thanks for your help.

The bigs ones I see are:

Genuity (formerly BBN)
PSINet
Sprint
Level 3
UUNET/WorldCom

Signing up with these companies can be expensive if you do not plan on selling a lot of accounts. They generally want commitments of 3000+ new dial accounts per year (which is why most people go through the secondary providers ;)).

Thanks uuallan for the reply.. :)

I know it will be expensive to go to the big guys but what's left is actually finding out the source of the places I mentioned in my post. (safepages.com) .

Because If all basically offer the same packages (same exact text on sites even) and the only diference is the monthly fees, that points me to think that the source might have even a better deal. (if I ever find out that)

:D

The only thing I can tell is that these guys seem to provide the network for safepages and they might be the ones to call and get some more info: http://web.xecu.net/partner.html

Safepages.com is Dialup USA. Other companies that you find using it are either resellers for them, or in a couple of cases different brands that they use (virtualisp.com, for example).

Dialup USA themselves resell services from many providers of the type Allan mentioned, including Telia, uu.net, Genuity, Qwest, and others.

You really should contact broadwing, worldnet or megapop, they all cater to the smaller operation. I know them well as we do the RADIUS authentication for quite a few of broadwings customers on an outsourced basis. If you need points of contact for any of these places let me know.

The others that have been mentioned are what is called aggregators in the business, while I won't post specifics here, I can definitely recommend that you stay away from them.

MCI Worldnet (formerly UUNet Wholesale Services) is the backend provider for AOL, Compuserve, Earthlink Networks, and MSN.
