Being a reseller sounds quite interesting, can someone explain to me how it works, in detail? :)

well IMO there are two main methods

1. Hosting multiple domains on one big account. You can purchase this kind of reseller account where you get lets say 2000mb space and 50 gigs bandwidth, you can add domains to the account as you like (some providers allow unlimited domains) and divide the space between them. This is probably the best method to go with, it allows you to grow and is easier on billing etc.. Companies that do this: MCHost.com SplashHost.com and my future company, SwiftyHost. (had to throw that in, sorry :) )

2. Joining a reseller program like venturesonline where you sell an account with lets say 100mb space and 5 gigs data transfer for 9.99 month. You then buy the account for lets say 4.99$ from venturesonline. And this doesnt neccesarily mean your price would be overpriced, as venturesonline would be giving you a discount. This is confusing, especially when you have a good number of new clients coming in.

The following is what I am looking for.. but I have to be honest. Im not a techie & I am just now looking into details... So what sort of deal should I be looking for? If you have a five page website, with a flash intro, & a forum on each.. How many can you fit on how much bandwith?? Have I confused anybody yet?

This is what I do... I settup new business (were talking small, small, office/home office) with business services that they will probably use for the first six months.. maybey a year.. These people want an internet presense, but don't have the bucks to support it... I help them find a solution...

This is what I want: (1) I want to set something up were one of two things can happen... a.) I can set them up with FREE web hosting (must be GOOD) & then get paid when they buy the "better" service. (How much are we looking at here $ wise?)
b.) I want to be able to offer the person who can afford it, really inexspensive add free,e-mail catch-all,etc. hosting. I want to be able to "buy" it at wholesale, & then sell it at my "retail" price... I don't know all the ins & outs of resseling hosting, & would rather only have to basically take the orders.. I want it pretty automated in other words (I will bill if I have to..) I know that most of you guys probably do the whole kit & kaboodle when you ressell hosting.. but I don't have the time for that.. basically I offer my services for free.. so the only place I make money is resseling the product I refer them too....
