Since Freessl.com took a dive I wanted to know if there is any other service offering the same free certificates?
Where is the best/cheapest place to purchase one? Thank you.

I think there is no free anymore.
I was gonna answer ssl4less, they were at $79 but now they seem to have raised their prices to $99 :(

$99 seems to be the standard price at this point. Of course you can always self-sign a certificate as long as you don't mind those pesky boxes popping up whenever someone tries to use your site securely.

Ya that is the main reason I am looking. I think I can spend 99 better elsewhere and keep the pesky popups for now. Thanks. PLEASE BRING BACK FREESSL! What happened to the free service anyways ? Anyone know?

Truthfully, I don't see how anyone can make money offering SSL for free. It costs money to verify information, and maintain the server certs, as well as the cert database. You can run any sorts of ads everytime someone uses your SSL, so there really is no logical business model that would a company to successfully offer SSL at no charge.

Very true. I wish they could bring it back though. Its very nice to save a $$$ here and there. Maybe this is something they are working out and trying to find a way to make some money/profit.
Thanks for the help.
