My website is nearing completion and I'm trying to decide what shopping cart I want to use. I originally planned on using the online cart creation through 2checkout, but after exploring around a little, it doesn't look like I'll be able to use it due to the fact that I need more customizable shipping options than are currently offered with the web based one.
For instance, say one of the items that I sell, I want to charge a flat $3 shipping for 1-4 units for U.S. customers, and those who buy 5 or more in the U.S. get FREE shipping. Then shipping to Canada would be $5 for 1-5 units, and other International areas would be $5 for the first unit, and different amounts for each additional unit ordered (Depends on what they're ordering).
I asked my web designer about the perl version of the shopping cart through 2checkout.com, but he said that would be too complicated for me to make future changes by myself, so I'm looking for something I can create the code with, and then insert into the site I guess when I want to change things on my own. I was hopefully looking for something either low cost or FREE. I'm only going to be selling a handful of different items to start out with, so I wouldn't need anything too complex.
Does anyone else use 2checkout with another shopping cart that sounds like it would fit my needs? I know HTML pretty good, since I've been posting eBay auctions for quite a while now, but websites and shopping carts are a whole new beast for me to try and tackle, so the simpler to use, the better :).
Thanks for your time,
David
