We've signed up for a reselling hosting account and were assigned our own private nameservers for the account. So we now have a domain name, that we had previously registered, that has become a nameserver as well.

We went to the site where the domain name was registered, filled out all requested information concerning the new nameservers and the IP numbers which were assigned to them, and .....

Nothing. This was about two weeks ago. Whois at netsol still does not recognize the nameservers. Repeated emails to the registrar where the domain is registered have either been ignored or unhelpful.

Can anyone tell us if there is a domain registrar that will register the new nameservers so that we can transfer the domain to that registrar?

Which registrar did you register your domains with?

If this is an OpenSRS reseller, you can create your own nameservers using the Manage interface.

If not, transfer to any OpenSRS reseller and you can create your own nameserver without special assistance from your registrar.

If you are trying to get your nameservers in "other" Registries (ie used for .biz domains, etc), your Registrar or reseller has a way to add nameservers to foreign TLDs, or vs vs if your nameservers are in a foreign TLD, your registrar has a way to add them to the gTLD for com, net and org for you.

We had the same problem with our name servers and Network Solutions (Verisign). After weeks of emails and phone calls we decided to switch all of our client's domains with network solutions over to us through OpenSRS.

Our name servers appear at the Whois at InterNIC but Network Solutions beats to their own drum. This has been happening to others too.

If you have Network Solutions, you need to transfer away from them to a company that will let you add any name server.

That's really something.

After two weeks of checking if the nameservers exist in the whois at netsol.com and getting no results, we took your advice today and checked the whois at internic.net and they do indeed appear there.

If you call and bug them enough they will point your client's domain to your name servers.

So you end up with ns1.yourclientsdomain.com and your name servers IP address.

You think it would be easier to just allow the name server to be added, but I am convinced they do it to annoy those who do not use network solutions as their registrar.

Don't give in though. Have your clients transfer away from them so their little scheme will back fire. :D

I guess they see it on TV and do not know there are other options out there now.

I have heard they are losing customers constantly to others.

NetSol still registers more new domains a year than any other registrar. Amazing, I know.

OpenSRS is in second place. :)
