View Full Version : Confused...

I hope this isn't just me being stupid, but I'm confused.

I have a handful of domains, a number which will shortly grow. The domains I own are spread out over the registrar v3.com and tinyhosts.com, a reseller of onlinenic.com. I had to move some away from v3 because they were up for renewal and v3 wouldn't let me use UK debit cards (switch/maestro) to pay, and with tinyhosts I don't seem to have very much control.

I need a setup where I can logon to my registrar (once) and see all domains in the same place and manage details for all of them at once. I'd also like to delegate control to others for particular domains (allow them login to one domain's settings). I don't want to pay a set fee for my control options, nor do I want domain prices of more than $10 per year for any type of domain. I currently have .com, .net, .org and .co.uk domains, may well use .org.uk in the future too. I would quite like dynamic dns services, and perhaps dns management facilities would be good although I can just use zoneedit for that if necessary.

What are my options? Do I need a reseller account? Perhaps reselling domains wouldn't be a bad idea, to go with a new reseller webhosting account. No plans for a business at the moment, but...

I looked at enom's site, but was mostly confused. I've read howtos here, and they seem to answer specific questions.

I wouldn't really mind if the UK domains were managad elsewhere, (i.e. two accounts/registrars overall) but with the same kind of layer of control.

Am I being stupid?!

Many thanks

Olly.

You have at least one good option that I know of. First transfer your domains to http://www.sipence.com and use a cash back credit card for the best price (less than $6.95). Then open a free $8.95 eNom reseller account with one of the folks here (myself included). You can use the functionality of the eNom reseller's account and the low price of the sipence account by pushing selected domains back and forth. I paid $6950 for my eNom account; but I would never do it now that I've eaten the smart pill!:smash:

thanks.. that kinda ties in with what I'd seen in other posts. you can get an enom reseller account under another reseller... and that's for free? you can't get a free account from enom.com directly? how do i choose where I create my reseller?

Why ME, of course! No, really; there are hundreds of good resellers posting on this forum who can set up a free account. :)

hehe.. thanks. so it's best to get a reseller account rather than a retail account for my current needs? sounds like enom has the best features...
can they do .co.uk and .org.uk domains?

Yes; just don't forget it's a good idea to balance it with a RETAIL account at sipence. You can register cheap at sipence and manage cheap at your eNom reseller account. ENom has really stiiffed me with this move on their part; but I can't resist telling others even though it probably is best for eNom in the long run.

as an alternative to enom you can buy a wwd reseller which gives you $7.45 for .com .net .org or if you don't want to spend money buying one ($99-199), subscribe to a discounted account from such a reseller monthly.
