I hope this mistake will not happan again, I really like zoneserv. they are fast and almost 100% uptime.
The admin is very nice and fair.
The features are great.
I just hope they won't get hacked again.

So I decided to just stay...

I chose not to stay. I moved to reyox.com I found a great place where I get 15gigs space and 200gigs BW for 20 bux a month. THey provide the same 24/7 support where you dont have to wait hours to get a responce. And you dont have to pay more to get better support. So far all support has been answered in minutes. And they perform backups atleast once a week. So far Im really pleased with reyox.

you gotta be joking?

I dont think you can offer professional web hosting to clients on zoneserv....

I only gave some friends free web space, and feel gutted I let them down...

I decided to go with a new host. sonataweb.net

I will report back on them in a few months. So far so good, friendly prompt, and flexible.

I only used zoneserv to host free sites that we offered to a few gaming clans.

no replying to the original post entitiled 'who is staying at zoneserv'

Im sorry to confuse. my point was that even though I only hosted some friends and fun sites, I lost a bit of data and so did they...

In the end, its not even worth going with these cheap hosts to do cheap stuff imo

Anyways each to their own

I chose not to stay with Zoneserv. I lost many clients because of this hack and I cannot take the chance of this happening again.

It is interesting to see how the SilverZ went from 20G/200G to 15G/200G and now to 15G/120G plus the what-so-called 'advanced support'. Hmmm.

Sounds like you guys really did lose alot, but think of what he lost. He has to refund everyone. Also what 3 or 4 of you are leaving him meaing he probably lost a ton of clients also. So think more of him then yourselfs. I myself have a hosting buisness and if I was to get hacked I would be really bummed.

I say you get what you pay for. You should be prepared for such a disaster with a budget host. A host that offers high quality hosting would have backups for such events, if proper remote backups are done data loss should be minimal and it would take all of 3 or 4 hours to get back online (of course there would be the odd problem here or there to work out).

Although i feel bad for Zoneserv going down like this, and just one person having to handle so many clients and complaints, I do believe when a company is brought down like this and ends up losing money and many customers, it can be healthy for the industry.

Offering such low prices ultimately means one department in the company will have to be neglected or have a budget cut. Customers from such companies then come to learn how the hosting industry really works and thus allows them to make a more wiser choice when it comes to choosing a host.

I have already gained a few Zoneserv 'refugees' from this incident. I'm pretty sure other companies have as well. If this keeps up for other companies offering impossible plans, it may well stop customers using price as a sole method of guidance for choosing a host.
