View Full Version : Reseller Advice...
NCGNow 12-12-2004, 03:32 AM Hi,
Been reading the posts and am impressed by the level of interest and knowledge on this forum!
As part of a small networking company, have a few servers running locally for applications, databases and websites running for some clients. Been thinking of moving the websites to a real webhost and think a reseller account might be the best way to go at least at first.
But am having trouble deciding on a host. Space and bandwidth requirements are not a big issue... support is a bigger concern. Not looking for the cheapest host, but am not looking to pay for nothing... you get the picture...
Have read countless posts and have narrowed it down to a short list that I'd appreciate some fresh feedback on:
HostGator (5g/50g/$25)
HostDime (5g/50g/$20)
Suggestions from you guys... ;)
All help is appreciated... thanks!
websolutions 12-12-2004, 03:38 AM I have used both and find hostdime servers to be slower.
Host gator was good but I use kaphost.com
Hope this helps
Joe
kelvinklay 12-12-2004, 04:02 AM search on wht you will find a lot lot of them
eSited 12-12-2004, 04:25 AM hostgator provides whmap with the reseller packages
NCGNow,
Before making the final decision, I would suggest searching on WHT:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php?s=
You will find lots of feedback regarding the companies and choose the one, that suits your needs better.
nwide 12-12-2004, 09:09 AM I've been there and done that. Searched many times for the same stuff you're looking for. Two years ago I switched over to Hostdime and I haven't looked back since! In my opinion Hostdime is the best bang for the buck.
I have been really inpressed with their level of support and the speed they resolve any TS issue. My old host used to measure tech support response time in days. The few times I've needed support at HostDime things were fixed in hours or even minutes!!!
I have a dedicated machine with them which I found suited my needs a little better than a shared set-up.
Good luck with your search!!!

joshuayip 12-12-2004, 11:04 AM Hi there,
I am surprised in your first posting you have discovered premium hosters like dime and gator. Well, I say they are all on par with one another. though my opinion may seems bias as I am on dime, but i tell ya, if you talk about personal touch, dime's got it all. =)
I remember when i moved to dime (from gator), I had all the help I needed, and I've got to say is good to have a wonderful partner in biz. Although the offering seems the same, but read the fine lines. HostDime is giving ya another 5GB for your own website.
And I got to admit, when I dont know anything about dns and stuff, HD's is there providing me a free online education about web hosting =) . Nothing beats that =)
And I must say, HD community is truly nice. One even help me in my setup with cerberus web (help desk).
I told ya I was bias =)

haxtheplanet 12-12-2004, 12:20 PM If you want the next level of support, hostdime is the way to go, I have been with them for quite a while and I wouldn't think of changing even if another host offered me the same resources for less. Another nice thing which would probably benefit you is that they offer easy upgrades, if you find you're outgrowing you account, they can just bump you up to the next size. But like I said, if you're looking for the best support, you'll want to go with hostdime.
Dawzz 12-12-2004, 07:58 PM I know I have a low post count and some would say that I only come out in hostdime discussions, well that's true. I don't believe in posting just for the sake of it. I only post when I can address a topic and this one I can.
The following is from my posting in testimonials section of hostdime's forum:
"
The support is fast and very importantly COMPETENT , if it is over the intial responder's head or I should say level of support it is passed on to a higher department immediately .
The uptime has been rather good with the exception of once and even then it was very close to the promised uptime.
So all in all I would have to give hostdime a 4.5 out of 5 stars (if I gave a 5 it would mean you guys were perfect with no room for improvement and as we all know nothing is perfect).
If you are reading this and are looking for a host then give them a try i honestly believe that you will be happy with them.
Disclaimer:
Please note that I do not receive any type of renumeration for my testimonials,
even though I am very open to discussion on that matter ;) "
Take your time go thru my postings there you will see that I am not a "cheerleader" at all.
pixelvibe 12-12-2004, 11:03 PM I'm thinking of swtiching to host dime. i like the fact that they say then can answer most support tickets in less tan 20 minutes. anyboyd with HD, is this true?
Dawzz 12-13-2004, 03:21 AM Yes it is true. Most tickets are responded to that fast. On the odd ones that take a little longer it usually is on that has been "bumped" to a higher level of support I.E. A level 3 support ticket. When that happens a true admin takes care of it and then repsonds to you. I have never had a ticket open that wasn't responded to in under an hour at any time and any day, even holidays.
NCGNow 12-13-2004, 03:23 AM Thanks for all the input... really appreciate all the comments, particularly from the members with firsthand experience!
Looks like I won't do wrong with either of my choices... from all the responses, it seems that HostDime will be worth a shot.
Will be signing up shortly, as I am trying to decide which will be my main account... but am still open to any thoughts on this.
Thanks again!
