View Full Version : CC processors ??
p1net 02-09-2002, 07:13 PM I will be soon starting my own hosting business and was wondering which credit card processor is best for someone living in Ireland. revecom and 2checkout seem to be mentioned quite frequently but with these services from what I understand i would recieve my payments in USD and would then have change it to the appropiate currency which will cost even more money. All this on top of the 5.5% transaction fees etc. I see some people are using worldpay but it seems to be quite expensive £145 sterling per year. Is there any other solutions or has anybody got any suggestions to get around these problems?? :) :) :)
Ben ozric 02-09-2002, 07:41 PM Hi Ronan
I'm in the same boat as you - just in England.
I've been having a good look round the last few weeks.
At first I was looking at revecom but I wanted to offer payment in £ & Euro + $ and they don't do that.
I did look at lots of others (see my post: the problem with UK billing) but I was coming to the conclusion that worldpay was the way to go, though I did not want to have to pay that much up front.
By the way, worldpay works out more like £250!
Anyway, I just found out about hostcharge.com. If you don't want to pay too much up front then this looks like the best option.
Not sure about the problem of being paid in dollars. If you dealing in multi currency's doesn't an exchange rate have to occur somewhere along the line?
So there you go! You would think a UK company would be exploiting this market by now - I dunno
Ben :)
why not just have your business deal in the US Dollar? Then, each month, have your bank account transfer all the money into your personal bank account and have them convert it. I dont think it should be a problem, but I may be wrong.

ClineCOM 02-10-2002, 11:29 PM revecom works pretty well.
I would suggest that. But, I was looking at this charge host one and it does seem pretty nice thus far.
Thanks,
Asher S 02-11-2002, 12:32 AM About hostcharge and multi-currency.
You're given the option to charge in 7 currencies (right now only USD but wait 2 weeks and its 7)
Suppose you choose to charge in GBP, then the amount you charge is instantly convereted to USD and credited to your statement. Thus our job is simplified and we pay all our merchants in USD :)
irlhost 02-21-2003, 07:57 PM You can use revecom, but if your in Ireland and a new business contact bank of ireland and set up a new business account. You can get free banking for two years and open a retailers credit card account for free too.
The cost is only 3% of income.

First off, why was this replied to now in 2003 when the last past was in 02-11-2002 05:32 AM?? (Being the 11th of February 2002)
Secondly, ReveCom is good for charging in USD, GBP, EUR and CAD.
i always recommend netbilling.com. They're not the cheapest, but i personally believe they have the best fraud scrubbing tools, the most comprehensive online terminal, best reporting features, and best of all everything is in real time. You auto settle batches nightly and never have to worry about getting payed because they have no access to your money.
Dynamix 03-02-2003, 10:40 AM Well first of all, I would recommend paypal since lots of people use paypal and it's free. That's all I have to say :S
Acsiak - Andrew 03-02-2003, 10:51 AM PayPal is nice but not as your main thing.
I'd have PayPal as a backup --> A lot of people don't like PayPal and therefore you'd lose lots of sales.
There are many places who have lost plenty of sales due to this very fact.
Get both PayPal and another place.
Try them both --> USE them both.
Have PayPal for those who want it, have the CC processor for people who DONT want PayPal.
