Hey,

Is this possible.. In the near future I will start to move some of my clients accounts to another reseller plan (from Texas to London)..

Before I'll point my nameservers from Texas (this moment) to Londen (later) I'll be sure that both of my WebHostManagers (in Texas and in Londen) have the same account with the full website on it ... So the client has no downtime..

I know it is possible but... how? It has something to do with the IP of the mainaccount and then... I'm not sure of it anymore.. :)

Thnx,

Yves

(ps. second less important Q: Where do set the index page for new created accounts with no posted website yet? A sort of welcome page for new clients, I've set this in the past but am not able to find it again :/ )

You will be able to access the sites on the new server once they have been transferred over by going to http://mainserverIPaddress/~username (obviously changing the mainserverIPaddress for the IP of your new server and the username for the username of the account you want to visit.)

Also, the option to add a page to all new accounts is "Skeleton Directory" and is found in WHM on the left hand menu.

Hope that helps.

In my limited experiences with this stuff, I have found that http://mainserverIPaddress/~username does not work but http://mainserverIPaddress/~username/ works fine. I don't know why it needs the / but it does in my experiences.

To prevent downtime setup the account on the London server, once you are happy with everything (by looking at the account via http://serverip/~username/) change the nameservers on the domain and then also edit the DNS Zone for the domain (at the old server) to point to the London servers IP address. Do this for mail, www, ftp etc. This way the sites will become available on the new server very quickly indeed and there will be no downtime.
