View Full Version : Domain Pending delete
kanasai 12-09-2004, 08:49 AM Guys,
I have a domain with OnlineNIC with status "pending delete" since 3/12/04. I've been waiting for more than 2 months for the domain to be release. Any ideas how long will they will hold this domain under "pending delete" status?
FanCube 12-09-2004, 08:55 AM Itīs different from registrar to registrar, normally will a domain have the pending delete status for not more than a week. You can also try e-mailing OnlineNIC about the domain and ask when they expect deletion of the domain.

Pending delete since Feb. 12 or Dec. 3? I've seen some people
actually abbreviate a date by writing Dec. 3 as 3/12/04 instead of
12/03/04.
Sorry, I just can't believe it's on pending delete since Feb. 12. It's
too long.
Pending Delete is a registry status, not registrar. PD lasts for only
about 5 days before the domain name (supposedly, anyway) gets
released on its 6th day.
But if you mean it's been on "pending delete" from OnlineNIC for
that long, then something's definitely wrong.

Will a registrar really tell you when they'll delete the domain name
from their end?
Has anyone encountered cases where they do tell you when?

I suppose that date is in Euro format, so it's December 3rd.
Being 2 month in "Redemption Period" is normal, although the min is 30 days. The "Pending Delete" is 5 days minimum, but registrars can stretch this as they please. Today is day 6, so it will be deleted any day now.

I believe I was reading a posts here at WHT that somebody had been e-mailing Register.com a couple of times about some domains and they acually responded, but I canīt remember all the details.

Come to think of it, many of those who made those kinds of date
posts I saw were Europeans. That might explain it.
2 months Redemption Period normal? Registrars stretching the
Pending Delete status from 5 days to a little longer?
Don't those 2 status belong exclusively to the Registry? Unless
you're suggesting some under-the-table deals are occurring. :D
ajaspers 12-09-2004, 04:22 PM Is it an .org or .info name? "PENDING DELETE RESTORABLE" is redemption period (lasts 30 days). "PENDING DELETE SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE" is the same as .com's PENDINGDELETE (lasts 5 days).
kanasai 12-09-2004, 08:10 PM sorry for the confusion. its 3rd Dec 2004 and it is a .com domain. try again early today still locked by them.
kanasai 12-11-2004, 10:20 AM argh ! the domain name that im trying to get is now with pool.com and on sale for USD60. and it say 3 days left for sale.
does it now own by pool.com ? will it be release to the pubic after 3 days ? and does this always happen when domain name goes into delete cycle ?

No, it will be given to the highest bidder by Pool. Is the domain in the Domain Marketplace or Deleting Domains?
kanasai 12-11-2004, 10:43 AM in the domain marketplace place and its a dutch auction
ajaspers 12-11-2004, 07:31 PM Well, buy it if you want it. The price will go down over time, but if you wait too long someone else may buy it.
kanasai 12-12-2004, 10:30 PM will it release to the public after the bid finish ?
ajaspers 12-12-2004, 10:33 PM No. If no one buys the domain, the person who listed the auction will keep it.
kanasai 12-12-2004, 10:59 PM aww .. man. that is bad.
do you know how this happend ajaspers ? its nothing special with the domain name and im sure no one want it except me.
i have a domain expired before but was never auction by anyone. is it because i keep on whoising the domain ? i did try to transfer and sent emails to onlinenic. Maybe onlinenic tip off pool.com.
and thanks a lot for your replies .. :D
ajaspers 12-13-2004, 09:58 PM Are you sure that the status was PENDINGDELETE? Once a domain enters that status, it cannot be restored by the registrar. Therefore the current registrant (of a domain in PENDINGDELETE) has already lost it.
Can you show the registry WHOIS info (without the actual domain name)?
dmaven 12-13-2004, 10:18 PM Not true, many .org names can show PENDING DELETE (restorable) and can be restored
ajaspers 12-14-2004, 08:11 AM Yes, he already said it was a .COM domain.
