Hi,

Running RedHat 7.2 and after upgrading the kernel from 2.4.7-10 to 2.4.17 bandmin stopped working. I got this error when trying to run it:

root@server16 [~]# /usr/local/bandmin/bandmin
modprobe: Can't locate module ip_tables
iptables v1.2.4: can't initialize iptables table `filter': iptables who? (do you need to insmod?)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.

I went ahead and upgraded bandmin to version 0.92b7, but I am now getting this error:

root@server16 [~]# /usr/local/bandmin/bandmin
ipchains: No chain by that name
ipchains: No chain by that name

In any case, bandmin is not recording anything.

Any ideas?

Hey Gary,

Thanks for replying on both posts :)

I fixed it by deleting the iptables file and running bandmin again.

Well, sorry if I'm telling you what you already know, but iptables are a *very* usefull thing for the security of your server...

I do hope you are atleast running ipchains, although that would be odd, considering that you use 2.4.17 kernel?

Ales,

We DO RUN iptables on all our servers. We had to reinstalled them though and recompile the kernel after the upgrade.

clocker1996, you can get bandmin from bandmin.org:
