Hi guys,

after i checked all most host company provided the test ip, i am not very clear what is low ping means? Does means people access you website faster if your server in datacenter has low ping?
right now i am in new york, and i tested nac.net and defenderhosting.com and i got very good ping ave.28ms and 33ms, but i ping theplanet.com i got 70ms, does that means for me the nac or defenderhosting are my best choice?

what is relationship between low ping and datacenter phycial location? does means i live near the datacenter i always get low ping?

since most people live most cities in us, and what is the best way to tell my server most time have fast access avg. compared with with another servers in another datacenter?

Thanks
sean

ping has a lot to do with distance and who your isp uses as a backbone to the internet, the number hops between you and the dc where the server. But for practical purposes unless you are running a game server, ping is not too important unless it is really high. But this is just my opinion.

First I got a ping of 140ms (houston) then got one of 20ms (londen) means a lot to me, big ping time can give timeout to pop3 and http (i guess)
