View Full Version : DomainSite.com (REVIEW)
Castellani 12-07-2004, 05:55 PM What can I say, I was skeptical with whom I would register my domain with. Thankfully I made the right choice.
I have just ordered a domain from them ($7.77), & paid through Paypal. Unfortunetly Paypal failed to complete the transaction but the money was taked out of my ACCOUNT! I said to myself "Great there goes my money." Yes Paypal took the money out of my account and I did not have the domain listed on my account.
First thing I said to myself, "Call them up, and hopefully they will answer." I called their number, and within 2 rings, a representative picked up. I explained the situation and he said "Paypal didn't complete the transaction with us. What's your name? Domain name? Okay, one second."
Literally 10 second later, he said the domain is now on my account.
I was literally stunned; I thought it would be such a hassle to explain my situation and get my domain back. The phone conversation lasted nearly 1 minute. Now the domain is safely in my account.
All I have to say is, excellent support from the first few 'minutes' of experience. Will keep you guys updated.
Regards,
Ed
Dave Zan 12-07-2004, 06:18 PM Can you verify that by logging inside your account now and see if

I was logged into My Account. He told me it was there, I refreshed and bam it was there. Just a matter of seconds,
iGabe 12-07-2004, 10:09 PM I also have really love DomainSite.
GoDaddy has increasingly frustrated me with how they keep selling stuff to you when all you want to do is buy a domain. Every time you go to buy a new domain, they try to "cross sell"/make you buy something else too.. like hosting, or privacy protection.
DomainSite feels just as powerful as Godaddy, but faster and (so far) basically no ads. Have a total of 8 or 9 domains with them so far. Very happy.
edit: cleaned up bad english
That's great ! :)
I should try Domainsite by moving one or two domains. :)
camner 12-08-2004, 05:28 PM FWIW, I took domainsite up on their "free .info domains" deal a while ago, and within two days of registration, the email address I used (which is unique to that transaction) started getting lots of spam, which has not abated.
I am NOT suggesting that domainsite is sending the spam, nor that they made available the email address to spammers. However, no other email address I've used in any domain registration has had this happen.
waikit86 12-10-2004, 06:07 AM I had the same problem once but I am still happy with them
rushik 12-10-2004, 02:35 PM even i was getting the spam. but the overall feel and a great friendly website interface, with cheaper domains.
great.. till date..
i have around fifty domains with them now.
Castellani 12-10-2004, 10:21 PM No spam for me....(not yet)
sushihendrix 03-07-2005, 08:05 AM Hmmm, happy to have found familiar company of satisfied DomainSite users here :)
I've been with GoDaddy for around a year or two and also had some run-on problems with them (sometime even banning site access from ISPs in my country), so I decided to scout for better registrar who can offer the same price.
Took a chance with this fairly unknown registrar after a week of scouting and peering into reviews, domain registrar annual docs, and websites.
I chose DomainSite particularly because of their price range, respectable name (no sign of 'Daddy' or 'Cheap' ;) clean site layout (very basic though, but not a rip off) and transparent information regarding their company (contact numbers, address), pricing and of course, their extensive domain management features which are included all-in with the domain. I've been with DomainSite since (3 years and counting, around 10 domains with them) and I'm a very satisfied customer.
My only wish list with them is probably having a dedicated account info page (like GoDaddy's) and a more inviting user interface.
Even now I've still been scouting for a better registrar (even higher priced), it's hard to match DomainSite's simplicity, ease of use, and confidence (they don't try hard to sell and have everything).
Though I still have a couple of domains with GoDaddy (they've been improving) just so I don't put all my eggs in one basket, DomainSite remains to be the best, powerful, great-value registrar on my list, never had ANY problems with them whatsoever ;)
I transferred about 15 domains to domainsite for $6.99 each. I have only one problem that really frustrates me: I wanted the basic plan for $6.99 (I do not want/use/need the features of the standard plan that costs $7.99) but for renewals I have to pay $7.99. They say my domains are on that plan although I never asked for it and also do not use or want its features. They say it is not possible to change my domains to the basic plan  so I will move away...
